“A bankrupt company milking its users to stay afloat”I was once a strong supporter of Plutus, but over the past year, the platform has taken a hard turn for the worse. I genuinely wouldn't be surprised if they halt card withdrawals or even go bankrupt within the next year. Here’s why: Unstable Policies: Plutus has changed its cashback and withdrawal terms over 30 times -- impossible to keep up with. These abrupt changes have negatively affected users — including myself — while the PLU token has steadily declined. Predatory Withdrawal Fees: They started charging a 33% fee to withdraw PLU cashback (paid in GBP!), and this wasn’t properly communicated. It feels like a last-ditch fiat cash grab. Punishing Legitimate Activity: Selling PLU or moving it to an unlinked wallet can lead to your account being limited or even suspended. A mockery of self custody. Forced Token Migration: In May, Plutus halted PLU withdrawals permanently and forcibly converted all internal PLU balances to a new token, PLUS, at a rate valuing PLUS at £10. The problem? PLUS isn't an on-chain asset (and likely never will be), and you can't redeem it for £10—except in a highly limited way (1 PLUS/month to offset card purchases). Misleading Cashback Claims: Cashback is now given in PLUS, and while they advertise rates like "3% cashback," the actual value is a fraction of that. Since PLUS is valued arbitrarily at £10, your effective cashback might be closer to 0.15%, not 3%. Locked Out & Let Down: Support was unresponsive during the PLU to PLUS conversion. PLU withdrawals were restricted (max 999 PLU per request), and only one request could be made at a time. This led to many users, including me, losing access to earned cashback. Manipulative “Gifts”: Just before the PLU deadline, they issued a "complimentary" 6-month subscription refund in PLU — but encouraged users to request a payout of that exact amount to avoid fees. Many users (again, myself included) were tricked into freezing their accounts by initiating these withdrawals and not having enough time to request PLU payouts before the PLU to PLUS conversion. Lack of Liquidity: PLU now has virtually no meaningful on-chain or CEX liquidity. A swap on Kucoin results in very high price impact, and total daily volume across all venues (including Coinbase) hovers around $50–60K. Dubious Burn Claims: They stated that unpaid PLU would be burned. While some were burned, a large amount has been sent to Coinbase. Looks like the team is squeezing out the last drops. Declining Trust: The CEO and official Plutus Twitter account blocked me after I raised these concerns publicly. They were a promising project from 2015 through early 2024, but things changed drastically around Q2 2024. It appears they may simply be running out of money. If you’re still unsure, I’d recommend watching Coffeezilla’s video investigating the CEO: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Gw41hSkxBMon Plutus · 1206· 1y ago · negative5
“Pathetic attempt to LARP as a “Hyperliquid Killer””Aster is nothing like Hyperliquid — Hyperliquid is a fully onchain orderbook DEX and Aster is a CEX with smart contracts on various chains to handle deposits https://x.com/0xasrequired/status/1969273915961704496 Their offchain orderbook doesn’t even post zk proofs onchain, like other offchain orderbook DEXs (dYdX, Lighter, Extended etc), so of course they have darkpools — every CEX is a darkpool https://x.com/0xasrequired/status/1970753093068284160 The narrative is a completely artificial manufactured attempt by CZ to try to stop Hyperliquid from gaining more ground on Binance https://x.com/stablealt/status/1932482753116655951 All the Binance NPCs, who know nothing about Hyperliquid, are blindly pushing a narrative based on CZ controlling 97% of the $ASTER supply https://x.com/cyphstrain/status/1970811988734288217 https://x.com/bitstruggler/status/1970810995611492661 Can that push the price up? Certainly. But that has nothing to do with Aster as a “DEX” and we are in crypto for a reason — we shouldn’t celebrate blatant market manipulation Nevertheless, if you want to believe a guy who had never used a DEX until 6 months can make a better fully onchain orderbook DEX than Hyperliquid (which he isn’t even trying to do), that’s on you https://x.com/0xasrequired/status/1969767503716094183 Perp DEX mania is a bubble and Aster is the top signal because it isn’t even a DEX https://x.com/0xasrequired/status/1969705460090671575 hyperliquidon Aster 🥷 · 1517· 1y ago · negative16
“The right and compassionate way to do compliance”Over the past week, all of my wallets were banned from Hyperliquid, Opensea, CEXs and many other platforms simply because I unwittingly used HTX in the days following a UK sanction against them on May 26th 2026, which I was unaware of. Article explaining the situation in full: https://x.com/0xasrequired/status/2064516523838800001 Blockaid, GoPlus and Nominis mark my wallets as benign because they take a more nuanced approach to risk, while Chainalysis, TRM and Elliptic, all paint every wallet that has ever touched HTX with the same brush, blacklisting millions of wallets and probably ruining millions of lives What I want to focus on though is the fact that Blockaid is the only compliance firm that actually provides an appeals process for reporting false positives https://report.blockaid.io. TRM have a general contact email (contact@trmlabs.com) on their website meant for BD uptake, while Elliptic and Chainalysis don't even provide an email, they just have AI chatbots for BD uptake. MixemaCrypto had a similar issue in March and Blockaid are still the only firm to have responded to him (https://x.com/MixemaCrypto/status/2038396082967683324). Blockaid and Seth Steiman have been the most compassionate and helpful of the compliance companies. Even if little can be done to help, I truly appreciate at least being treated like a human being with feelings whose life has been derailed by something I had no knowledge or involvement in. I hope that Blockaid can set the standard for the industry and the other compliance firms can learn from them and at least provide a contact point that is actually monitored, as required. https://x.com/0xasrequired/status/2064325230290469332on Blockaid · 1339· 4mo ago4
“Dishonest Extraction”This review is not about the chain -- the chain is good. This review is about their marketing and business decisions. In hindsight, their sponsorship of the Ansem/Bitboy fight should've told us all we needed to know before the start of the points campaign, but here we are. CT believed Sonic when they stated that 190.5M $S would be distributed to points holders, with no indication of multiple seasons, so many parked significant capital in Silo/Shadow/others for 6 months. This influx of capital is what got the chain off the ground ($11M -> $1.1B TVL) and catapulted the team back to into relevance, since Fantom was long dead. Fast forward to the end of the campaign in June, the team decide to announce that the 190.5M $S will be distributed over "multiple seasons" and that only an "undisclosed" portion of that will be airdropped in season 1. https://x.com/SonicLabs/status/1931336521866690824 To add insult to injury, they later announced that only 25% of this nerfed airdrop will be claimable and the other 75% will be vested over 270 days. All while $S is at all time lows. After weeks of waiting for the airdrop after the end of S1, just when CT thought it couldn't get any worse, many users found themselves inexplicably ineligible. Some of these users had LP'd 5 figs for 4-6 months, incurring incalculable opportunity cost. https://x.com/mattfromblock/status/1947647456335782145 Sonic will predictably chalk this up to the sybil review, but it is very improbable that all of these users are sybils, especially for a liquidity based campaign. Another example of dishonest marketing is Andre proudly announcing "Sonic Labs just burned 100% of its 1,866,256.59 $S allocation from the airdrop. Current value: $754,902.66." https://x.com/AndreCronjeTech/status/1947265125334896909 These tokens were never in circulation -- the 190.5M $S are new tokens that will be minted. The teams' wallets should never have been eligible for the airdrop and these tokens should've been redistributed to users. All this did is reduce the airdrop (again) by 1.866M $S. Coming back to this post airdrop, now knowing that so many genuine users were disqualified, is even more insulting.on Sonic · 1175· 1y ago · negative15
