“Missed opportunity”Starknet started with so much hype as this super different ZK rollup using STARK proofs and the Cairo language. While most other L2s were just quick copy-paste EVM forks chasing fast liquidity, Starknet actually went the hard route, building something unique with native account abstraction for smooth UX, quantum-resistant tech, and real potential for complex apps and even Bitcoin scaling. It wasn't trying to be another Arbitrum clone, and that originality was refreshing at first. People were excited about the tech edge and the long-term vision. But the management choices really hurt them. The airdrop in early 2024 was a total disaster, from the weird eligibility rules, hating airdrop farmers out of nowhere, tons of active users getting left out, and then heavy unlocks for the team and investors that felt super unfair. On top of that, they had multiple network outages, slow adoption because Cairo is harder to learn than Solidity, and constant token unlocks creating sell pressure. Instead of rewarding the real community that stuck around early, the decisions pushed a lot of people away and killed the momentum. In the end, users just left for easier, more user-friendly L2s like Base or Arbitrum that actually grew liquidity and activity. Starknet's TVL and daily users dropped hard and even with solid BTCFi experiments and upgrades later, the vibe never fully recovered for many. It’s a classic case of killer tech getting held back by poor community handling, they had the chance to stand out but fumbled the basics, and the community paid the price with their time, gas, and trust. Still, I hope they can fix their problems moving forward.on Starknet · 445· 6mo ago · neutral0
