Known for authentic, honest reviews backed by real evaluation rather than AI-generated content or project shilling. A steady, insightful presence across Web3 communities (Eclipse, Monad, ASC) who brings genuine opportunities to others' attention, offers clear ecosystem breakdowns, and maintains approachable, consistent community engagement without noise-making.

“mismanagement at its finest”i literally just woke up & the first thing in my head is: "what happened to berachain?" Berachain is honestly one of the biggest examples in this cycle of how you can have everything going for you, attention, love, narrative, memes, genuine community, and still find a way to fumble it. I’m not here to judge the tech. I’m sure the tech is solid. This review is about everything around the tech: how the interest, momentum, and community were handled. In 2024, it really felt like it was Berachain’s year. They had: NFTs with insane hype and real culture behind them A community that didn’t just feel like a cult, but like real, organic connections A narrative strong enough to easily push them toward a top 20 ecosystem if executed properly Back then, if you were around early, it felt like there was a 99.9% chance Berachain would crush it and maybe a 0.1% chance they’d mess it up. And somehow, here we are in 2026, living in that 0.1%. What went wrong? In one word: mismanagement. Mismanagement of interest Mismanagement of community Mismanagement of apps Mismanagement of the broader tech and ecosystem Mainnet is where the real work starts, not where it ends. That’s where you either compound all the goodwill you built, or you slowly bleed it out. Berachain chose the latter, whether intentionally or not. Instead of doubling down on shipping, compounding community trust, and nurturing builders, it felt like they started focusing more on praise than progress. When you surround yourself with people who only say “yes” and clap no matter what you do, you don’t get feedback, you get noise, The numbers don’t lie. Fast forward to now, and the data tells the story: Data from defilama as of writing this review TVL: Around $75m in DeFi on Berachain, and down ~16% in 24h Stablecoin market cap: About $86m, down ~5% over 7 days Daily DEX volume: Roughly $2m Chain fees (24h): About $57!!!which is basically nothing for a chain that once had this level of attention App activity is concentrated: Kodiak alone holds ~$75m TVL, while most of the rest is thinner than you’d expect for a “next big thing” chain For a chain that once completely dominated the conversation among pre-launch L1s and L2s, these numbers are underwhelming. There are chains from that same era that never had half the hype Berachain did and yet are now quietly doing multiples of this in TVL, fees, and user activity. From near-guaranteed success to cautionary tale What makes Berachain’s situation so wild is not that it failed, chains fail all the time. It’s that it had every advantage: Real community, not just mercenary capital A strong narrative and clear identity Cultural relevance through NFTs and memes And still, in less than a year post-mainnet, the momentum evaporated. It wasn’t a slow fade over five years; it was a sharp drop-off over months. That’s what mismanagement looks like at scale. Lessons for teams building the next Berachain If you’re building a chain or protocol right now, learn from this: Hype is not product-market fit. Pre-launch hype and NFT culture are not a substitute for sustained user value, strong dev tooling, and real economic activity. Mainnet is Day 1, not the finish line. The pre-launch narrative is just a trailer. Mainnet is the actual movie. If you don’t deliver there — with real apps, incentives designed for longevity, and responsive governance — the market moves on. Beware of yes-men. If everyone around you is only praising you, you’re already in danger. You need people who will tell you, “This isn’t working”, before the chart does. Community is an asset, not a given. Berachain had one of the most genuine, connected communities in the space. Losing that kind of energy isn’t just a miss — it’s a warning sign. Once you break trust or neglect your base, it’s incredibly hard to rebuild. Don’t confuse narrative momentum with execution. Narratives can put you in the spotlight, but only execution keeps you there. It feels like Berachain got stuck somewhere between being a story and being a functioning, thriving ecosystem. There is A small hope, though, for them. Despite all this, I’d still love to be wrong long-term. I’d love to archive this review one day as a reminder of the “before” the low point before a real turnaround. Maybe they clean house internally, refocus, bring in stronger operators, and rebuild the trust they’ve lost. But if I’m being honest and looking at the current stats and trajectory, it feels like if there’s a 0.1% chance they finally get it right… They’ve shown a tendency to drift toward that 0.1% in the wrong direction. Berachain will probably end up being a case study people point to — not about how to generate hype, but about how hype without management, focus, and execution will always collapse on itself.on Berachain Foundation 🐻⛓ · 1390· 6mo ago · negative357
