Whether I'm checking TVL, comparing chains, researching protocols, or looking at yield opportunities, it's usually the first place I visit. What makes DefiLlama stand out is its simplicity. There are no flashy headlines trying to influence your decisions, no endless advertisements, and no obvious agenda pushing one ecosystem over another. You open the site, get the data you need, and move on.

With billions under management and a track record going back over a decade, they've stayed near the top of crypto VC without needing to be loud about it. What stands out most is the research they put out reports and analysis that genuinely help people understand where the space is heading, not just marketing dressed up as insight. A lot of funds show up for a bull run and disappear after. a16z built the kind of trust that survives market cycles, and that's the harder thing to earn.

That's probably why Cobie stands out. His posts are often sarcastic, sometimes brutal, but usually contain more useful information than long threads from self-proclaimed experts. What I like most is that he doesn't seem obsessed with constantly promoting himself. He can joke about the market one minute and make a genuinely insightful observation the next. A lot of people follow him for the memes, but there is usually a deeper point behind the humor. He's also not afraid to criticize popular trends when they don't make sense. Whether it's questionable fundraising rounds, unrealistic valuations, or the latest hype cycle, Cobie often says what many people are already thinking but won't say publicly. Of course, his style isn't for everyone. Newcomers might find some posts difficult to understand because they often rely on crypto culture, inside jokes, or market history. But for people who have spent some time in the industry, his content is usually both entertaining and informative. In a space filled with influencers chasing engagement, Cobie feels refreshingly authentic. You don't have to agree with all of his opinions to appreciate the fact that he's one of the few large accounts that still seems willing to speak honestly.

At the time, I was curious, like many others, and gave it a chance. But something always felt a bit off, so I never fully committed. Now, looking at how things turned out, I’m honestly relieved I didn’t spend too much time on it. I know people who were deeply involved as ambassadors and active in the testnet, yet received nothing in return. That says a lot.

More importantly, it opened the door to the entire crypto ecosystem for me and sparked my interest in exploring everything beyond it. What made it stand out at the beginning wasn't just the product itself, but the way the team approached the community. They introduced a fresh concept, rewarded early supporters fairly, and created genuine excitement around participation. People felt that their time and effort were valued. Unfortunately, as the idea became popular, many other projects rushed to copy the model. The difference was that most of them were focused on extracting value rather than creating it. Rewards became weaker, expectations became unrealistic, and users were often treated as a resource instead of a community. Over time, the original concept lost much of its appeal. What started as an innovative and rewarding experience slowly became diluted by countless low-quality imitations. Eventually, the trend that once felt exciting began to disappear under the weight of its own popularity. Even so, I still look back at the original project positively. It showed that strong communities can be built when users are properly incentivized and respected. And for me personally, it was more than just another crypto project - it was the first one that helped me earn money, learn how the industry works, and begin my journey into Web3.

The platform is straightforward, easy to navigate, and does a good job explaining the risks that come with investing in early-stage projects. I especially appreciated how transparent the onboarding process was compared to many other platforms in the space.

I noticed that he was helping with this, so I reached out to him on Telegram and asked if he could verify me. He replied quite quickly and suggested joining a short call. I agreed, we talked for a few minutes, and the atmosphere was very calm and friendly, which made the whole process comfortable. In the end, I successfully completed my human verification. I’m very grateful for the help, the quick response, and the pleasant interaction. Thanks to people like this, the whole process feels easy and positive.

Then life happened, paths changed, and we didn’t really cross each other’s circles for a while. Seeing him again on Ethos was a pleasant surprise. I checked his Twitter and it’s great to see he’s still active, learning and growing. Always respect people who keep moving forward. He also recently got verified on Ethos, confirming he’s a real person - which builds even more trust. Feels like the space is small… so I’m pretty sure our paths might cross again in future projects.
