From 204 activities · Mar 2026Eclipse is widely characterized as a failed Layer 2 project that betrayed its community through unfair token distribution, broken promises, and poor execution. Early supporters—including NFT holders and active testnet participants—report feeling scammed after the TGE resulted in token price collapse, inadequate airdrops, and mass layoffs. The team faced criticism for toxic leadership, dismissive treatment of community members (labeling them as farmers and sybils), and a shift from long-term vision to short-term value extraction. The chain remains largely abandoned with minimal TVL and user activity, while leadership controversies—including allegations against founder Neel Somani—further eroded trust.

However, in my opinion, Eclipse has not yet fully met expectations. Despite the strong emphasis on modularity and flexibility, the user experience and documentation still require improvement. There is a certain gap between marketing and actual results, and some of the announced initiatives have not yet been implemented. I hope that the team will take feedback into consideration and be able to build trust among the community, as the project still has potential.

Their updates mix hard numbers; like billions of transactions, with a sense of excitement that feels more like being part of a movement than reading a press release. What I appreciate most is how they explain complex ideas in simple terms, often framing Eclipse as a bridge between Ethereum’s security and Solana’s speed. It feels less like marketing and more like an open invitation to understand and build alongside them. For me, that makes the project not just impressive on paper, but genuinely inspiring to follow.

At first, there were high expectations for this cross-chain project, which was listed on all major exchanges. However, immediately after the listing, the price of the token fell sharply, and project participants expressed outrage at what they considered to be an unfair distribution of tokens.

“The Underrated Workhorse Still Holding Its Ground”Just got into Eclipse and was honestly surprised by how solid it still is. The Java tooling feels mature, debugging and Git integration run smooth, and the plugin ecosystem covers pretty much everything — from C++ to JS. It’s not as sleek as IntelliJ or as lightweight as VS Code, but it holds its own, especially for enterprise-scale Java and polyglot backends. Community feedback is mixed on UI and performance when overloaded, but under a clean setup, it runs fast and stays reliable. Eclipse might not be flashy in 2025, but it’s a powerful, open, and underrated workhorse that still deserves a place in the serious dev stack.

Peppsterino · 1209· 1y ago · neutral3“Neutral”Eclipse is an emerging blockchain project exploring modular architecture by combining the Solana virtual machine (SVM) with Ethereum’s security via rollups. It aims to offer high throughput while maintaining composability and compatibility with existing ecosystems. While it’s still early in development, Eclipse’s approach reflects a broader trend toward modular blockchains—separating execution, settlement, and data availability for performance optimization. The project’s direction is promising, but like any early-stage protocol, it will need to demonstrate sustained adoption and resilience over time.

Prince Okodi · 1228· 1y ago · neutral3“Another Airdrop Dream Turned Ghost Town”Oh, Eclipse. Promised the moon — said it’s gonna bring Solana-speed with Ethereum’s security, backed by big-name investors. Everyone got hyped, rushed to claim their airdrops, and then… crickets. Token? Yeah, good luck finding any actual trading volume. Exchanges? Nope, ES token’s basically invisible, stuck in wallets like a useless souvenir. The team? Banned themselves from the airdrop. That’s right — even they don’t trust the hype. All those flashy TPS claims? Still just numbers on a testnet dashboard, zero real users, zero real action.

USDHG · 1229· 1y ago · negative3“Eclipse Not Everything”No one works for you for free. Time is the most valuable human asset. Those who help grow your ecosystem expect to be rewarded. But unfortunately, your team, led by Alucard, accuses them of farming, while he himself loves money.

Vaas · 1228· 1y ago · negative3“Keep building”Eclipse has continued to build despite people not fully adapting to them. They want to add SVM connection everywhere and I am for this but also some chains are just meant to do different things in different ways. So 100% know they are making it easier for SOL devs to build anywhere, but just because it works on solana doesn't mean it will work elsewhere. So I question that a little bit, just come build on solana.
