“Great founder with a bad past but has made up for it”Everyone has an opinion on Zaga, and at the end of the day, all of them come with their own valid points of support. Zaga has a controversial past, having abandoned three projects: Tendies, Phunks, and Zunks. That is true. However, it is also true that he fulfilled the promises he made for Phunks and Zunks. During the LooksRare wash trading drama, as the creator of Phunks, he set the royalty to 5% to take advantage of the situation. In the end, though, he gave up the treasury, and the Phunks community took over. Tendies, on the other hand, was a complete rug. What stands out to me is that Zaga has come forward, been transparent about his past mistakes, and put in the effort to change and grow as a person. He has proven this by handing over the contracts to the communities he left, supporting creators like Wale to help expand the crypto space, backing builders by supporting new token standards such as DN404 created by vectorized.eth, and investing in other projects as an angel investor. If Zaga didn’t want to change, he wouldn’t have stepped up—he would have just abandoned ship, like many others did at the time. Instead, he has helped push anime and artists forward by driving real innovation: making NFTs on Ethereum more gas-efficient for artists and creating reliable statistics on anime consumption to better understand what fans are truly interested in. Of course, some might never forgive his past actions, and that’s fair too In my eyes what matters most is whether someone acknowledge their past, improve, and contribute positively moving forward. Zaga did just that As a founder, I see him as a net positive in the space. For full transparency, the only thing I own as of 2/26/26 is a Bobu, but even so, these are my honest thoughtson Alex Q.
