Kalshi is a CFTC-regulated prediction market platform where users trade on real-world events across politics, sports, economics, and weather. The platform is praised for its clean UI, professional infrastructure, and regulatory legitimacy, positioning it as a serious alternative to Polymarket—though critics note it functions more as a gambling app and operates with significant barriers including mandatory KYC, geographic restrictions, and thin liquidity outside major markets. Controversy surrounds the platform's handling of contract modifications (notably an Iran Supreme Leader market), paid influencer campaigns against competitors, and a perceived focus on fighting Polymarket rather than improving its own product, raising concerns about ethics and user trust despite strong VC backing and mainstream adoption.

“I DONT LIKE PREDICTION MARKET”kalshi is the regulated prediction market platform pushing real money bets on elections weather economy and random events but it honestly feels like a disappointing and restrictive experience compared to crypto alternatives. everything is heavily kyc controlled and limited to us users only which already cuts out most of the global audience and makes it feel like a walled garden.what stands out negatively is the terrible liquidity on anything outside the biggest election markets. most contracts sit there with almost no volume and horrible spreads so trying to get in or out of positions is painful and expensive. the fees eat into your wins and the platform just does not have the same energy or capital flow that unregulated markets do.on top of that the whole thing feels overly corporate and censored. they have strict rules on what markets they allow and resolutions can get messy when real world events are involved. it moves way slower than polymarket or other crypto platforms and lacks the fun degen vibe that makes prediction markets exciting in the first place. it is basically gambling with extra paperwork and limitations.overall kalshi feels like a watered down regulated version that prioritizes compliance over user experience and upside. it is safe for small bets if you are in the us and want to stay legal but it is nowhere near as good as the crypto options for actual trading or entertainment. too many restrictions weak liquidity and not worth the hassle for most people. i would stay away unless you have no other choices.xanon · 1321· 4mo ago · negative0
