“Listing very often aggresively”some people say it is an early oppo for traders but i view it as an acknowledgment of risk, rugs and volatility. I still used mexc but it doesn't change the fact that they are promoting scammers and multiple source suggest that they have their hand on many of those manipulation.

“Shady but unavoidable”Mexc exchange has had history of shady dealings like denying withdrawals, freezing funds etc. But it is also an exchange which is easier to access for both new teams and users without too many barriers. Many token pairs first launch on mexc and then anywhere else. So ya, ideally as a user there is too much risk to use this exchange, but it is also unavoidable in many cases.
