Constant adoption issues (private transactions are rarely used), regulatory pressure, and delistings from exchanges. In January 2026, the entire core Electric Coin Company development team left en masse due to a serious conflict with the board - a classic governance shambles that immediately sent the price plummeting. Plus, there's the old Trusted Setup story and questions about centralization. Now it's trying to rebound on the wave of privacy narratives, but its reputation is seriously battered. Negative / Mixed. For many, it's already a zombie project, living more on its old brand than on actual results.

On the other hand, the launch of their $SLX token in May 2026 was very messy. There were numerous complaints from airdrop farmers about sudden vesting, small allocations, registration fees, and a significant price dump immediately after the TGE (dropping 30-40%+). There were accusations of insider selling (the team denies this). Classic crypto drama. Plus, the project is constantly swirling with phishing sites and drainers.
