Shiba Inu (SHIB) evolved from a 2020 meme coin into a full ecosystem featuring Shibarium (Layer 2), ShibaSwap (DEX), NFTs, and companion tokens BONE and LEASH. The ShibArmy community drives the project forward with strong engagement and loyalty, though volatility and price manipulation remain concerns. While celebrated as an OG memecoin that introduced many to crypto, it faces skepticism about long-term utility versus hype-driven speculation.

“Remind me meme cycle in 2021”Around mid-2021, when the crypto market was buzzing, I overheard friends mentioning Shiba Inu (SHIB) in an investment chat group. At the time, I only knew about Bitcoin and Ethereum, and SHIB sounded like something playful, with its cute Shiba dog mascot and the nickname "Dogecoin killer." Curious, I decided to dig deeper into the project.Right from the start, I was impressed by the #SHIBARMY community. I noticed how active they were, sharing updates about ShibaSwap—the project’s decentralized exchange—and posting fun memes and messages about community unity. I started reading more about SHIB’s ecosystem, including tokens like BONE, LEASH, and later Shibarium, a Layer-2 blockchain the project was developing. The more I learned, the more I realized SHIB wasn’t just a "meme coin" but had ambitions to build a real ecosystem.I decided to buy a small amount of SHIB through an exchange, keeping my investment modest since I was still skeptical about meme coins’ stability. Then, I tried staking my tokens on ShibaSwap—or "burying" them, as they call it—to earn rewards. It felt exciting, like playing a decentralized finance game! However, my journey wasn’t always smooth. SHIB’s price was highly volatile, sometimes skyrocketing when the community buzzed about a major exchange listing, but other times dropping sharply, which made me nervous. I remember reading about token burning to reduce supply, which gave me hope for future price increases. I also joined some SHIB Discord and Telegram channels but had to be cautious due to scammers posing as the project team. Thankfully, I learned how to verify official information through shib.io to avoid scams. The highlight of my experience was when Shibarium launched. I had been following updates about it for a long time, and when the Layer-2 network went live, I tried transferring some tokens from Ethereum to Shibarium via the bridge. Transactions were faster and fees were much lower than on Ethereum, which really impressed me. I also explored Shiboshi NFTs and even bought a couple on ShibaSwap, just for the thrill of owning unique digital Shiba dogs.Though I didn’t invest a large amount, SHIB gave me more than just financial opportunities. It was the sense of belonging to a vibrant community where people shared memes, supported each other, and dreamed of a decentralized future. The project’s updates weren’t just a source of information; they inspired me with messages like “Shib is for everyone” and announcements about events like ShibaCon. I still follow the project to this day, and despite the market’s ups and downs, I keep a bit of SHIB in my wallet as a memento of my journey into the crypto world.Kuzzyfuzzy | TAP🚰 🍊 🚀 · 1179· 1y ago · neutral5
