Hearing her describe the vibrancy and emotional resonance of his pieces reminded me just how much depth sits beneath the playful surface of his art. Murakami has also distinguished himself as one of the few legacy artists who genuinely took the time to embed himself in web3 culture. Rather than treating the space as just another market, he approached it with humility and curiosity... learning the nuances of NFTs, engaging with digital-native communities, and experimenting in ways that felt authentic to his practice. In a world where many traditional artists either ignore or misunderstand web3, Murakami’s openness stands out. It adds another layer of relevance to an already remarkable career.

From what I’ve seen, he’s deeply immersed in the weeds. An active degen with sharp instincts and no hesitation when it comes to calling out bad actors or aping new plays.
