Building in this space is not easy and with everyone wanting to dunk on anyone sticking their neck out it's all too easy to deprioritise the strength and resilience needed to build meaningfully in this space.

It often functions as a solid first stop for understanding emerging trends, tokenomics, and sector movements (particularly in sectors Binance has an interest in). As someone who straddles culture, education, and protocol-level thinking, I approach platforms like this with some healthy skepticism. That said, Binance Research has impressed me with its balance of digestible insights and occasional depth. Their breakdowns of new sectors can be especially helpful when trying to zoom out from daily noise and observe macro capital and narrative shifts. However, it’s important to remember that Binance is an exchange with commercial incentives. Some of their deeper dives coincide conveniently with listings or campaigns, so a critical lens is necessary. That’s not a flaw unique to them. it’s the nature of research arms tied to exchanges. Still, for those building in public, shaping narratives, or just needing a high-signal starting point before forming independent convictions, Binance Research can be a valuable layer in your info stack.

The team inscribed 2,121 Wizards in a single 3.96 MB block (Feb 2023), which at that time was the largest block in Bitcoin’s history. 🧙🏾♂️ Technical Focus: Actively supporting OP_CAT, a proposed Bitcoin upgrade to enable more advanced smart contract features. 🧙🏾♂️ Funding & Backers. The project has secured support from Standard Crypto, UTXO Management, Cyber Fund, among others. Demonstrating investor confidence. 🧙🏾♂️ Bitcoin-Centric Ethos. Funds and development efforts are aimed at furthering Bitcoin’s ecosystem. 🧙🏾♂️Cultural & Community Involvement. Well-known for the “Wizard School” community and unique promotional quests (e.g., the “shower quest”), reflecting their blend of technical experiments and Bitcoin culture. 🧙🏾♂️Early Ordinals Influence. Their February 2023 inscription placed them among the earliest and most prominent players in shaping the Ordinals narrative on Bitcoin. Altogether hugely EV+ for Bitcoin and Ordinals.

IMO he's a great example to us all. No one is perfect. All you can do is show up daily and try and put your best foot forward 👍🏾

A company deeply commercial yet philosophically grounded. While many pay lip service to decentralisation, few have matched Animoca’s conviction in putting capital, time, and talent behind building and investing in the space. As someone who writes and thinks about cultural capital, digital identity, and the long game of internet-native ownership, I’ve found the thoughts of Yat Siu repeatedly surfacing in my own work. His framing of digital property rights as a form of civilisational advancement is one I’ve echoed in several pieces, especially as we shift from passive digital consumption to active participation and co-ownership. Animoca isn’t perfect—it’s a sprawling empire with hundreds of portfolio companies and the occasional narrative pivot. But that breadth is also what makes them significant. They’ve managed to touch nearly every corner of the ecosystem: gaming, identity, education, infrastructure, and IP. In a space often driven by hype and fast flips, Animoca has consistently taken a longer view. Their early support of projects like The Sandbox, their championing of open standards, and their willingness to fund bold ideas that challenge the status quo reflect a type of leadership we need more of.

Entitlement? Greed? Skill issues with people doing a bad job of farming?... 🤷🏾 What I do know is I've used the platform for months and find it one of the most compelling Discord replacements I've come across. For years web3 has made the most of Discord because we've had no equivalent alternatives. We've forced a square peg into a round hole. Telegram doesn't feel anywhere as immersive. X chats feel transient and impersonal. Now that we have something that's been designed and built on blockchain rails, native from the ground up and isn't the equivalent of putting hot coals in our eyes to use... I'm hopeful for broader adoption and excited to delve deeper.

Lots to learn if you're willing to take the time to listen. And willingness to act and show conviction when the time comes. One of my "signals" in a space full of noise.

There are very few people that could come anywhere close to the level of vibes, value and engagement he offers to the community. Hilariously funny and unassuming wisdom make for a very memorable character 🙌🏾

It leans hard into the memecoin meta, and while that’s not really my lane, I can’t fault him for playing to his strengths. He understands what entertains and what memes. Personally, I find the content a bit too subjective and trend-driven, but I respect the clarity of his vision. He’s not pretending to be something he’s not. This is entertainment, and he delivers. Likely says more about the audience tbh 🤷🏾
