Starknet is a ZK-rollup with solid technology—STARK proofs, Cairo language, low fees, and account abstraction—but faces severe community backlash centered on its airdrop distribution. The snapshot criteria excluded active users who lacked ETH balance despite using the network, and dismissive team communication (notably calling community members "e-beggars") fractured trust. Post-TGE, the token price collapsed dramatically, user activity dried up, and the project is widely perceived as having prioritized insiders over genuine supporters, leaving it labeled a "ghost chain" despite its technical merit.

“ShitNet”Starknet can be seen as one of the cult, large-scale projects that promised a revolution in crypto and raised a massive investment round if I’m not mistaken, over $200 million on the hype around L2 and ZK solutions supposedly powering the future. They spent years building their blockchain and promised $STRK tokens to users who participated in the testnet and mainnet, emphasizing that those who used the official bridge would be rewarded. Ultimately, none of what was promised or planned materialized. People were selected for the airdrop by very, very strange criteria. Many investigators linked this to the team handing out airdrops to their own wallets because it was the easiest way. The rules were such that, with inside knowledge of the launch, you could easily qualify by spinning up wallets three months ahead of time while people who’d been working the project for 2-3 years got nothing. And even users who actually met the airdrop requirements on their wallets didn’t receive it. But that’s only half the problem. The other half is that, after all these years, the ecosystem produced virtually no solid applications aside from a few DeFi platforms like Nostra. No real NFT collections, no GameFi, no InfoFi. Nothing that would hook users from the angles of fun, gambling, or stable, reliable earnings. After launch, all the team really managed was staking and a round of excuses to handle the airdrop backlash. Then leadership changed, the CEO left, and the project has basically stalled. A sad ending for an overrated company, an overrated team, and an overrated blockchain.namelesshero | GoH · 1259· 12mo ago · negative10
