“Metaverse Creator Playground”The Sandbox is a virtual world where you can build, own, and make money from your own stuff. Users make voxel art, design experiences, buy LAND plots, and then let others explore or use what they’ve created. There’s a token called SAND that’s used for buying, trading, and accessing premium features. They’ve got tools like VoxEdit for creating items and Game Maker so you can build games without needing to code. It’s pretty much the place where creators + players + NFTs + gaming meet in one metaverse.

“My interesting journey with The Sandbox”I joined The Sandbox in 2021, during Season 1, which many consider to have been its prime. To this day, I remain active in the community, and the platform has made significant improvements since then, particularly in gameplay mechanics and design. I am now a LAND owner and actively building Experiences. Although The Sandbox is not as strong economically as it was in 2021, I believe it has the potential to return to its former heights, reminiscent of Season 1. Looking ahead, the transition to Unreal Engine 5 next year marks an important step in its evolution.

“Promising in the past but not remained successful!”Sandbox was one the most hyped and enjoying project in 2021 but after disappearance of Metaverse hype, team couldn't adapt Sandbox with new trends and now it is not worthy anymore. It was good but not now!

From what I noticed, they don’t just sell land but keep expanding partnerships with brands like Adidas and Snoop Dogg, which makes the ecosystem more attractive. One thing I value in this project is how they empower creators. The tools for building assets and experiences are not just for big studios but open for individual builders as well, which gives the community real room to grow. In my experience, being early in The Sandbox ecosystem gave solid exposure to the rise of metaverse narratives. Worth following, but always DYOR.

“The dead cannot come back to life.”Sandbox used to be a top game on the blockchain, on par with Web 2 games, but you could still earn money from it. I remember how everyone bought avatars and showed them off to their friends. Now the project has gone downhill. We were fed promises about a mobile game and new mechanics, and some of the mechanics were implemented, but it's not at all what was expected. And still, I will leave a positive review for those warm evenings playing in the sandbox.

“OG Metaverse”Back in 2022, I was really drawn to Decentraland — the vision of a social world powered by crypto assets felt fresh and ambitious. Over time though, I’ve realized the biggest challenge isn’t the tech or the design, but keeping people genuinely engaged. The framework is solid, yet without a steady flow of creators and communities, it risks feeling more like a showcase than a living ecosystem.
