Received · 21Given · 160“Farming and Hype King”Very mixed feelings about Pacman because he was able to build Blur a robust competitor to Opensea which is extremely difficult to do. However the farming pozinomics that made Blur a hit also it could be argued killed the NFT market and ending creator royalties. Which was a huge bummer. He was also able to generate a lot of attention with Blast - an L2 - using these same farming/ponzinomics - and to be fair it also dominated mindshare for quite a while. But of course all ponzi's eventually come to an end and so the question for me is can he ever build a business that doesn't require a ponzi? Something sustainable? Seems unlikely.

Luke was also the dev who helped me relaunch Bellscoin in late 2023. Having worked with him now for years, I believe him to be of the highest character and a good friend.

In crypto we get so used to chains and projects that never make a penny that we tend to call the ones who do "extractive" but I don't see it that way. I see that they provided an incredible platform that has dominated crypto for more than 18 months. The only comparable was Opensea last cycle. And like OS Pump is now facing immense pressure from competing token Launchpads. The free market will naturally lower the amount that they charge, and their profits will shrink over time. Their upcoming token sale and potential airdrop has the potential to change my vote to negative. But for now I give them a positive review as this cycles biggest winner.

And no doubt he made a bunch of money on those. So I understand the negativity, but the reality is that was the story for virtually all NFT projects from '21. I'd say he's pretty transparent about his involvement in projects (even those in '21), and his bio is clear when it says "I talk my book." So as long as you understand he's pushing what he owns - I think you'll get value from his takes.
