From 135 activities · Apr 2026ApeCoin is the governance and utility token of the Bored Ape Yacht Club ecosystem, powering DAO voting, gaming, metaverse projects like Otherside, and cross-chain integrations including recent Solana deployment via Project R.A.I.D. Once a cultural phenomenon in Web3, it has evolved beyond hype into a community-driven infrastructure layer, though momentum has cooled and real-world utility beyond NFTs and speculation remains contested—some praise its active DAO, strong community, and ecosystem building, while others note faded energy, price decline from ATH, and questions about sustainable use cases beyond BAYC brand loyalty.

Whether you're already involved or just observing from the outside, it's evident that the project is leaning heavily into long-term infrastructure and community support. While opinions on ApeCoin vary depending on who you ask, it’s hard to deny the effort being put into ecosystem development. The direction seems consistent, and if you're interested in how token-backed communities evolve, it’s worth keeping an eye on how $APE continues to shape its corner of Web3.

Whether it's DAO proposals, governance drama, or fresh project collabs, they keep the vibe alive with sharp insights and real community love. If you're even remotely into the Yuga/L2 scene, this feed’s a must. Always worth checking the replies too surprisingly grounded for how wild Web3 can get.

Nadır · 1289· 1y ago14“Tried its best - keep trying”Apecoin attempted to be the pillar of innovation in the NFT industry. Apecoin was launched prior to the Otherworlds land mint, and was to be used as the primary currency of the metaverse that they were building, starting from that mint. The price pumped hard, we were all in BAYC mood. Then Otherworlds launched and it was a mess. Gwei had and has never been higher. Minters paid upwards of 2-4 ETH in Gas fees, for a launch that should have been from the pillar of the space. Yet the mint served to show us as BAYC, at the time, did not listen to its community, nor did it know what was doing on in NFTs at the time, repeating several outdated minting errors that we have all known about. Since then, Apecoin has found its use every now and then. Memes on Apechain, the occasional NFT mint, and some others I may be missing. But it ultimately lacks direction, and struggles to find meaning. Now it is a weak tokenised representation of the BAYC ecosystem. It exists only as a bet on whether Bored Ape price goes up or down. I am hopeful that Yuga will turn things around, but it has been disappointing to see their struggle, despite initial overwhelming community support, advice and budget.

That alone deserves credit in this space. It’s not trying to be everything at once it knows its roots, and it’s still building from there. You don’t have to be deep in the BAYC crowd to see its relevance. Whether you’re using it for governance, holding for culture, or just watching from the sidelines, it’s clear that ApeCoin still holds weight even if the noise has quieted down. It may not be the hottest name on crypto Twitter today, but it’s proven it can survive the waves. And in Web3, that kind of staying power? Kind of underrated.

0xgarap · 1301· 1y ago14“Has huge potential”Obviously I have bag bias but Apecoin has such huge potential to be a top tier utility coin if executed properly. It’s been several years we are waiting for some progress, which has yet to come. Hopefully the dismantling of the DAO will help.

The recent proposal to shut down the Ape DAO and move to a much more quicker decision model is a welcome move too. The coin & chain has much potential, but it needs to be realized with impactful decision making and quick iplementation.

Ajinkya 🏴☠️ · 1317· 1y ago14“Solid brand, still searching for direction”ApeCoin has a massive community and strong brand recognition thanks to BAYC, and ApeChain is a promising move toward real utility. That said, it still feels like the project is figuring out its long-term value. Definitely worth watching — just not all-in yet.
