22-year-old founder of Kled, a human data marketplace for AI training that has raised ~$10M and achieved real user traction. Built a functioning product with thousands of users uploading personal photos, videos, and data for rewards. However, reputation is heavily damaged by fabricated advisory board claims, fake VC investment emails, IP-banning all of Nigeria to address fraud (cutting off contributors without warning), blocking critics on social media, and a $500k secret token sale at launch. Communication style is defensive and drama-heavy on X rather than transparent. While execution ability is evident, trust and credibility remain severely compromised by repeated deceptive marketing practices and poor crisis management.

“Transparency concerns and questionable handling of community trust”Over the past months, Avi Patel has been involved in multiple controversies that make me cautious about the way he manages communication and community trust around his projects. The advisory board situation around Kled/Nitrility particularly hurt credibility. Several people publicly questioned whether all listed advisors were actually aware of or actively involved in the project after some names reportedly distanced themselves from the relaunch. Avi later defended himself and said agreements existed, but the whole situation felt messy and avoidable. Even if there was no malicious intent, presenting high-profile names before everything was clearly aligned created confusion and damaged confidence. Another issue was the decision to block Nigeria entirely from accessing Kled because of alleged large-scale fraud. I understand that startups must fight abuse and fake uploads, especially when payouts are involved, but banning an entire region by IP felt excessive and unfair for legitimate users. It gave the impression that the team preferred a blanket solution instead of improving moderation and fraud detection systems in a more targeted way. There also seems to be a recurring pattern of overly aggressive marketing and defensive reactions whenever criticism appears publicly. That does not automatically mean the project is illegitimate, but it contributes to an atmosphere where trust becomes harder to maintain. I’m not saying Avi Patel is a scammer, and some criticism online is probably exaggerated, but I do think there are enough warning signs to justify being careful before heavily trusting or supporting future products connected to him.Fastlucker 🟦 · 1279· 5mo ago · neutral0
