He's the CEO of one of the most visible platforms and clearly working towards onboarding the next billion users onchain. I like how easy Coinbase is (so the fees are the reason I'm not using it), I enjoy using the Base "everything" app and I am definitely fond of Base (the L2). The only "bad" thing I would say is that I don't understand his push on financiarizing (if that's a word) every content and every one on chain. So overall, pretty good guy!

He’s willing to eat regulatory pressure if it means Coinbase survives long term. That’s not popular, but it’s intentional. You don’t scale trust by playing it safe in public and reckless in private.

While most founders chase hype, he just keeps building and pushing for crypto to exist in the real world. Getting licensed in the US when everyone else ran offshore was already a bold move, but then launching Base, the L2 that actually works and grows fast — that sealed it for me. He’s not loud or flashy, but he gets things done. In a space full of noise, Brian feels like one of the few people who’s still playing the long game.
