From 283 activities · Apr 2026ENS (Ethereum Name Service) is a foundational decentralized naming system that transforms long wallet addresses into simple, human-readable .eth names, making crypto transactions safer, easier, and more accessible. Users consistently praise it for eliminating copy-paste errors, enabling seamless integration across wallets and dApps, and providing true ownership of digital identity independent of centralized platforms. While widely recognized as essential Web3 infrastructure with strong community support and a notable airdrop history, some concerns have been raised about pricing decisions and domain renewal fees.

Received · 405Given · 0“Trusted name Service”ENS is a foundational piece of Web3 infrastructure. It makes Ethereum more usable, more human, and more personal, like owning your slice of the internet. It replaces long wallet addresses with human-readable .eth names. its integration into over 200 dApps and growing support across wallets makes it arguably one of the most fundamental tools Web3 users should have. ENS can host decentralized sites and store metadata like avatars and profiles, turning it into a full identity layer for Web3. i highly recommend

Mohamad Garg · 1169· 1y ago10“OG Web3 Identities”Web3 by it's nature is different than Web2. And although people who are used to being on the cutting edge don't mind the length of wallet addresses, most people find it a bit too much. Being able to give someone my .eth address has been a life saver on many occasions. A couple weeks back, I just extended several of my addresses and will continue to for the foreseeable future. There have been many new chains that have come along with their own addresses, but none have really taken off like ENS addresses. Getting your first ENS address should be on the roadmap for anyone just starting out on web3.

notUzz.sol · 1215· 1y ago12“Your Web3 Identity with Ethereum Name Service”The Ethereum Name Service (ENS), represented by ens.eth (@ensdomains on X), is a decentralized naming protocol on the Ethereum blockchain, launched in May 2017 by Nick Johnson and Alex Van de Sande under the Ethereum Foundation. ENS simplifies Web3 interactions by mapping complex wallet addresses (e.g., 0x7a3d05c70581bD345fe117c06e45f9669205384f) to human-readable names like yourname.eth, functioning as a Web3 username. These .eth domains, stored as ERC-721 NFTs, allow users to manage crypto wallets, host decentralized websites, create subdomains (e.g., email.yourname.eth), and link metadata like avatars and social profiles. With over 2.2 million registered names and 200 million+ Ethereum addresses, ENS is the leading Web3 naming standard, integrated with dApps like Uniswap, Rainbow, and Farcaster. Recent updates (May 2025) enable linking .com and .org domains from GoDaddy to ENS for on-chain identity, as announced on X. The $ENS token governs the ENS DAO, ensuring decentralized control, with a constitution prohibiting name ownership infringement. Registration costs $5/year for names over five characters, paid in ETH, with gas fees varying. Challenges include domain flipping (e.g., exchange.eth sold for 6,660 ETH) and accessibility for non-crypto users, but ENS’s security, censorship resistance, and community-driven governance make it a cornerstone of Web3 identity.
