Farcaster is a decentralized social protocol built on Base and Ethereum that emphasizes portable identity, on-chain ownership, and builder culture. The platform is praised for its clean UX, Frames (interactive posts), integrated wallet, and genuine community focused on real conversations rather than clout-chasing—often described as crypto Twitter done right. However, adoption remains a persistent challenge: monthly active users peaked around 80,000 in mid-2024 but collapsed to under 20,000 by late 2025, with critics noting it has failed to break out of the crypto bubble despite strong technology and funding. While early users and developers remain bullish on its potential and ecosystem of mini-apps, concerns persist about sustainability, moderation inconsistencies, and whether the platform can ever compete with X for mainstream attention.

“Farcaster, the social network for quality”I’m one of the very first Farcaster users, and I think this network offers very high-quality content. I also love all the integrated mini-apps, especially the mini-game–style formats that run on Base.

“Candidate for Most Used Web 3.0 Social Media”Farcaster stands out as one of the most genuine and forward-thinking social networks in Web3. It’s free, transparent, and truly decentralized, making it especially appealing to Ethereum users and developers. The experience feels refreshingly real, no algorithms to please, active channels, frames that actually work, and a community filled with real builders. While the vision and tech are solid, the app can feel slightly laggy at times, and the lack of moderation plus some technical complexity may be challenging for long-term use. Still, when it runs smoothly, it’s easily one of the most trustworthy, engaging, and future-ready social platforms in crypto.

“Good UI”I started using Farcaster since it was possible only via invite codes and i really appretiate it. It was first app which give possibility to unite WEB3 and blockchain technologies. Also i like how this app is working and builded.

“The Home of Decentralised Social — @farcaster_xyz”@farcaster_xyz introduces itself as “A sufficiently decentralized social network.” Instead of just posting marketing noise, the account highlights how the protocol enables users to own their data, move across apps, and interact with embed-apps called “Frames” inside their feed. If you’re interested in what social media could be when it’s built onchain more freedom, less algorithm-control this is a profile worth following.

“Social app that focused on crypto”I've been personally using Farcaster since early 2024 and it could be a game changer among the biggest crypto-related apps but needs a lot of improvements. Support, investors, founders, raised money... they have all of this

“What Twitter should’ve been if crypto actually shipped”I’ve been around Farcaster long enough to say it doesn’t feel like another “X killer,” it feels like its own lane. It’s basically social media built by crypto adults: clean app, fast, familiar enough that you just start posting, but underneath it runs on this idea that you actually own your handle, your graph, your content. That matters. You’re not renting a username from a company that might rug your account because you said the wrong thing. The vibe is still early - nerdy, on-chain, sometimes people are arguing in a language only crypto people understand - but it’s real. There’s already this weird energy you don’t get anywhere else: builders, researchers, founders, all talking in public without the usual PR filter. Feels like the first social app where “Web3 social” is not a pitch deck, it’s just how the place works. I’ve watched it grow from “you have to DM me an invite code” to something that honestly looks like a serious alternative to X, and it’s only getting started.

“Tier S Web3 Social”There have been so many experiments like Friend Tech, District One, and Lens but in the end, the most alive and thriving network turned out to be Farcaster. It’s not just a social app built on Base it’s an ecosystem within an ecosystem, with its own mini-ecosystems emerging inside, like Remix GG.
