Farcaster is a decentralized social protocol built on Base that emphasizes user ownership of identity, portable accounts across clients, and an ecosystem of mini-apps and Frames. Praised for its clean interface, genuine community of builders, on-chain wallet integration, and high-signal conversations compared to traditional platforms, it has cultivated a loyal crypto-native audience. However, it faces persistent challenges with user adoption—monthly active users peaked around 80,000 in mid-2024 before collapsing to under 20,000 by late 2025—and struggles to compete with X despite strong technical infrastructure and backing. Concerns include questions about long-term sustainability, moderation controversies, accusations of favoritism, and recent strategic pivots that have raised doubts about the project's core vision.

“I don't understand why we need Farcaster”Looks dead as debank but I still waiting for an airdrop from both. Also apps work terrible on PC. I think Twitter will expand features and get everything from both Farcaster and Debank.

““Beyond Social Media: The Farcaster Revolution””Farcaster is a decentralized social protocol redefining how people connect and communicate in the Web3 era. Unlike traditional social networks, Farcaster gives users full control over their identity and data, empowering true digital ownership. Built with transparency and open innovation, it encourages creativity, collaboration, and freedom of expression across its ecosystem. In essence, Farcaster isn’t just a platform — it’s a movement toward a more open, user-driven internet where connection meets autonomy.

“Great product”Farcaster is actually a great product and I wish it had more traction. It's integration with web3 makes it an ideal platform for CT. I remember minting a few NFTs when it first launched and everything was really smooth.

“Right now, almost nothing about the project makes sense.”Farcaster is a very loud project that raised a massive amount of funding — and even more than that! It was created to become the first true crypto-native social network. Basically, an X (Twitter) for crypto people. I genuinely thought that over time it would turn into exactly that: crypto projects would migrate to Farcaster, the community would become stronger, more reliable, and laser-focused on its own industry. But instead, some really confusing moves started happening, at least from my perspective: launching a wallet, games inside that wallet, and so on. Why? What for? Where is the project’s native token? What’s the actual long-term roadmap? It’s all foggy and unclear.

“they showed that it’s possible to build competitive social networks in web3”imo the most competitive product among everyone who tried to attract web3 x guys especially like their mini app idea, lots of room for devs to build and experiment don’t remember any scandals with them, but i do remember successful cases, like the drop distribution for pro subscribers will be watching how things go with neynar, but i wouldn’t want us to forget about this product
