Farcaster is a decentralized social protocol built on Base that emphasizes user ownership of identity, portable accounts across clients, and an ecosystem of mini-apps and Frames. Praised for its clean interface, genuine community of builders, on-chain wallet integration, and high-signal conversations compared to traditional platforms, it has cultivated a loyal crypto-native audience. However, it faces persistent challenges with user adoption—monthly active users peaked around 80,000 in mid-2024 before collapsing to under 20,000 by late 2025—and struggles to compete with X despite strong technical infrastructure and backing. Concerns include questions about long-term sustainability, moderation controversies, accusations of favoritism, and recent strategic pivots that have raised doubts about the project's core vision.

“Powerful Decentralized Social Platform”I have been use farcaster for almost two years, i saw a lot of changes and improvement along the way. Farcaster is one of the proof that social media can be integrated tool with De-fi seamlessly plus they are running on Base which is powerful blockchain backing up. I really hope to see Farcaster become banger and ruler of next gen social media decentralized platform on Base.

“Hopefully the future of social media”Farcaster is a social media app, which is actually the counterpart to X. The structure and functions are almost identical to its web2 brother. The big difference is that Farcaster puts the control of the profiles in the hands of the creator. This means that there is no one who can ban or silence your account, as is the case on X, for example. This is getting bigger and bigger. Imagine you work on a social media profile for a very long time and because of a stupid mistake, the so-called “violation of the rules”, your account is suspended. Perhaps you have built up such a large audience that you generate an income from it. And from one day to the next, it's simply taken away from you. Exactly this scenario can never happen on Farcaster. If you need additional alpha, you'll find it there. Farcaster is the home of almost all known base developers and Coinbase veterans. I hope Farcaster becomes big!

“Web3 Twitter”Top SocialFi . Farcaster is a social network on blockchain. Your account and data belong only to you. No one can block you or take it away Here you use crypto, NFTs and other assets right inside the platform. It’s easy to talk and work with Web3 tools at the same time The team has raised around $180m through seed and Series A rounds. If you are there already let’s connect. I’ll follow you back - https://farcaster.xyz/acela

“Farcaster”One of the best decentralized social media platform. built on the Ethereum blockchain, leveraging the power of Web3 technology to create a more transparent, secure, and user-controlled online environment that gives me the best experience.

“Third Owner killed what remained”I was an early user of Farcaster and loved the idea of decentralized social media, users owning their content, channels, followers, etc. The idea was excellent. When Dan Romero & Varun Srinivasan opened farcaster to wide use, it was right as Degen token, launched on base and airdroped to users of the Farcaster /degen channel ran to over 100 million minting many of the early users and creating a wealth effect that led to many more coming online and trying out farcaster. At one point, it was Vitalik's only place to post. For many different reasons, even though many successful builders launched products it was too narrow of user base and they couldn't find PMF. When they finally threw in the towel and sold to Neynar, there was a hope that it would breathe new life, but hope faded quickly. Now, Neynar sold to Bilaji's Network School/State, and core users who log in have found themselves either banned (read only) for old posts that they must appeal or sign a soul based NFT commiting to ideals that aren't thoroughly explained or quantified, but rigidly enforced by ai. Farcaster is dead, along with it the best hope for decentralized social.
