From 31 activities · Apr 2026Friend.tech launched as a promising SocialFi experiment allowing users to trade keys to private chat rooms tied to X accounts, generating $1M in fees daily at peak. The project rapidly collapsed due to poor execution, privacy leaks exposing over 100k wallet addresses, bot exploitation, and leadership abandonment—the team extracted $44M in fees while the platform froze. Critics describe it as a fee extraction and ponzi-like scheme that prioritized influencer dumping and short-term speculation over sustainable community value, leaving users disappointed after initial hype faded to a ghost town.

It had all the market attention and hype and for whatever reason the team behind it just did not capitalize. Seemed they just took their money and did minimal to grow the project. Was a big disappointment

888mooncat.eth · 1289· 1y ago · negative10“Hype-driven launch with weak long-term fundamentals”Friend.tech attracted massive attention at launch due to the social-token hype and invite-only scarcity model. But under the surface, it lacked a sustainable value proposition. Most user activity revolved around speculation, not utility, and engagement plummeted once early farming rewards dried up. Despite onboarding some key influencers, the app failed to introduce new features or meaningful community mechanics. The drop-off in volume and retention metrics reflected this. Friend.tech became a case study in how virality without clear product direction leads to fast decay.

Good thing I didn’t jump in to download it or buy those weird shares of some random influencers for what? To get some so-called alpha in their private Frientech chat? Yeah right. Ridiculous. The project sank into oblivion rather quickly and without glory.

Everyone was bored and bought keys on base in the hope that it would be a sustainable app. However, the team stopped building after the TGE, and now no one uses the platform. Nevertheless, I appreciate the free stimulus.
