Monad is a high-performance EVM-compatible Layer 1 with impressive technical architecture—parallel execution, 10,000 TPS target, and low latency—that has attracted a passionate community and strong funding. However, the project is deeply polarized: supporters praise the tech, speed, and community bonds formed during testnet, while a substantial portion of the community feels betrayed by the airdrop distribution, which heavily favored influencers and external crypto participants over testnet users who spent months testing and providing feedback. The core tension centers on broken trust—many early supporters view the tokenomics as extractive and the community rewards as unfair, with testnet participants receiving minimal allocation despite their contributions, while others remain bullish on the technical foundation and long-term potential.

“A project that has broken once will always do so”Yesterday, the Monad project's Airdrop campaign began. And out of the entire huge community of this project, the team believed that only 5,500 accounts deserved an airdrop, and everything would look quite ordinary and normal, but the project team also announced that it would distribute airdrops to 225k accounts of users of "WIDER" crypto communities. So, these "users of wider communities" are mostly top users of the most popular and liquid perpdex exchanges, crypto protocols of completely different crypto networks, the absolute majority of which have nothing to do with the Monad project and its ecosystem. Thus, the Monad team openly demonstrated that it has no business with its own community, and that they have used it enough to create hype in social networks and test their own network, and now, through "DIRTY MARKETING", they are simply luring users of popular liquid dex exchanges, retrodrops and protocols into the ecosystem at the expense of the airdrop allocation that they promised their own community. Everyone should probably draw their own conclusions from this, someone will say that the project simply weeded out farmers and drophunters. But think about it, the numbers don't lie. Does such a huge and one of the most hyped projects in history as Monad really have only 5,500 users who deserve an airdrop, and all the rest are farmers, grinders and drophunters? And is the airdrop distribution ratio of 1 to 40 in favor of users of "other communities" in relation to their own community fair? I think the answer is obvious to people who are able to think. Finally, I just want to remind you of one of the main unwritten principles of DeFi - "No trust - No liquidity". Therefore, be careful in the Monad ecosystem, if the team betrayed its own community so easily, I see no reason not to do the same with new users already in the mainnet.Andriy · 1313· 1y ago · negative8
