Monad is a high-performance EVM-compatible Layer 1 with impressive technical architecture—parallel execution, 10,000 TPS target, and low latency—that has attracted a passionate community and strong funding. However, the project is deeply polarized: supporters praise the tech, speed, and community bonds formed during testnet, while a substantial portion of the community feels betrayed by the airdrop distribution, which heavily favored influencers and external crypto participants over testnet users who spent months testing and providing feedback. The core tension centers on broken trust—many early supporters view the tokenomics as extractive and the community rewards as unfair, with testnet participants receiving minimal allocation despite their contributions, while others remain bullish on the technical foundation and long-term potential.

“Monad in the Wild: Ethereum, Just Actually Fast”I have been using Monad since mainnet went live, moving assets over, deploying a few contracts, and testing dApps, and the experience feels refreshingly straightforward. It’s basically *Ethereum without the waiting*: same EVM tooling, same workflows, but transactions feel instant instead of clunky. What really stands out is performance. Blocks land in under a second, finality is fast, and even during busy moments, swaps and interactions stay smooth. As an Ethereum-native builder, I didn’t need to relearn anything, Solidity contracts deploy as-is, wallets connect easily, and gas fees stay low enough to make consumer apps and experimentation viable again. The ecosystem also feels like it’s growing naturally. DeFi apps, stablecoins, bridges, and staking tools are already live, and there’s real builder activity instead of just noise. Docs and infra are clean, which matters more than hype at this stage. Of course, it’s still early. Token volatility is real, some apps feel rough around the edges, and Monad hasn’t yet faced truly extreme mainnet stress. Competition from Solana, Move-based chains, and Ethereum L2s is intense, so long-term success will depend on killer apps, not just speed. Overall, I’d give Monad an 8.5/10min the current 2026 meta. If you’re an Ethereum user tired of L2 complexity but don’t want to leave the EVM behind, this is one of the smoothest upgrades available right now. Not financial advice, just hands-on experience from using the chain. Try it once, and the speed alone might spoil you. 🚀Ashish · 1235· 9mo ago0
