Monad is a high-performance EVM-compatible Layer 1 with impressive technical architecture—parallel execution, 10,000 TPS target, and low latency—that has attracted a passionate community and strong funding. However, the project is deeply polarized: supporters praise the tech, speed, and community bonds formed during testnet, while a substantial portion of the community feels betrayed by the airdrop distribution, which heavily favored influencers and external crypto participants over testnet users who spent months testing and providing feedback. The core tension centers on broken trust—many early supporters view the tokenomics as extractive and the community rewards as unfair, with testnet participants receiving minimal allocation despite their contributions, while others remain bullish on the technical foundation and long-term potential.

“Monad The Next Big L1”Monad is a chain that takes performance really seriously. The core team comes from high frequency trading (Jump Trading), so they know how to build super fast systems. Because of that, Monad is designed to be insanely quick, with up to 10,000 TPS, 1-second blocks, and almost instant finality, perfect for things like DeFi, games, or NFTs where speed matters a lot. The dev team isn’t just building in their own bubble either. People like Keone, James, and Eunice are very active, sharing research and contributing back to Ethereum too, that makes it feel like they care about the bigger ecosystem, not just Monad. The community is also very active. There are testnets to try out, the Mach accelerator to support new projects, and more and more dApps coming in from DeFi to memecoins, games, and even infra tools. It feels like the ecosystem is growing step by step, not just sitting around. What I really like is the vibe in the community, on Discord and X, everyone seems to help each other devs, content creators, or just people who like to yap. If you want to contribute, it’s not hard: join the testnet, create some content, or help small projects, and you actually get recognized with roles. It makes you feel like part of the build. Monad is still on the way, but with a strong dev team and a very active community, it feels solid. If the mainnet goes live as planned, I think this will be a really fun and exciting chain to be part of.littlemonkey 👾 · 1289· 1y ago16
