From 5 activities · Apr 2026Monero is recognized as a privacy-focused cryptocurrency that made privacy mandatory by default rather than optional, ensuring every transaction is private and the anonymity set includes all users. The project has maintained its original mission of privacy and financial freedom without a founders' reward, trusted setup, or steering company, instead relying on a decentralized community to ship upgrades. It stands apart from other privacy coins like Zcash by prioritizing privacy as a core protocol feature from inception rather than an add-on.

“Privacy, Decentralization, and Community Trust”I’ve been following Monero’s presence on Ethos, and I’m genuinely impressed with their commitment to privacy and decentralization. Their use of ring signatures and stealth addresses ensures transactions are untraceable, which aligns perfectly with the ethos of a secure, peer-to-peer payment system. The RandomX algorithm keeps mining accessible to everyday users with CPUs and GPUs, resisting centralization from ASICs. Monero’s community is strong and dedicated, consistently pushing for privacy-focused innovation. The network’s been rock-solid since 2014, and their market cap of $2.8 billion reflects serious trust from users. Only thing I’d note is the infinite supply via tail emissions, but it’s a fair trade-off to keep miners incentivized.

Honestly, I’d even say it’s one of the few chains that still carries crypto’s honor, even if it’s never been useful to me personally. Will I ever need to use it in the future? Probably not. But I’m glad you exist, Monero :)

Unlike Bitcoin, Monero transactions are obfuscated using technologies such as ring signatures, stealth addresses, and RingCT, making it difficult to determine the sender, receiver, or transaction amount. This focus on privacy has made Monero a preferred choice for users valuing confidentiality and complete privacy of their transactions. I have a small bag of XMR. There will be time when we will need something complete private like XMR :)

codeit · 1279· 1y ago14“OG Privacy coin”Monero is an early mover in the privacy space and still holds a lot of value in terms of priate trx. I feel Monero will get more importance & attention when the world leaders have used crypto for their campaigns and then start cracking down and threaten with regulatiions.

Thats what happens with monero and thats why its used a lot of times for crime. Still worth checking their developments.

Robapuros.eth · 1341· 1y ago14“Crypto was made for privacy amongst many other things. Monero embodies this ethos.”Monero (XMR) is a privacy focused cryptocurrency that was launched in 2014. Unlike Bitcoin, which has a transparent blockchain, Monero uses advanced cryptographic techniques to obscure transaction details, making it difficult to trace senders and recipients. Monero was originally derived from Bytecoin, a privacy-centric cryptocurrency introduced in 2012. A developer known as "thankful for today" forked Bytecoin’s codebase to create Monero, aiming for greater decentralization and anonymity. Monero is widely used by individuals who prioritize financial privacy, as its transactions cannot be blacklisted or traced. It is also supported by a decentralized community that continuously works on improving its security and usability

George · 1375· 1y ago14
George · 1375· 1y ago14“Overhyped Privacy killer”Monero stands out in crypto for one thing: privacy. Its tech—ring signatures, stealth addresses, RingCT, and Dandelion++—delivers what few others do: true on-chain anonymity. If you value financial privacy in a surveillance-heavy digital world, Monero is still unmatched. But that same strength is also its shadow. The privacy it offers has made it a go-to choice for darknet markets and ransomware groups, drawing serious heat from regulators. Some major exchanges have already delisted it. Add to that larger transaction sizes, slower performance, and a complexity curve too steep for mainstream users, and adoption starts to look shaky.
