A consistent and principled contributor known for clear, well-researched analysis that bridges tradfi and crypto. They're recognized for calling out bad actors, thinking deeply about second-order effects, and standing up for what's right within the Ethos community. Approachable and generous with their time—helping others with verification and engaging in thoughtful discussions—they bring grounded wisdom and common sense to a space often driven by noise and hype.

“Red Flags re: Disclosure Process”If Ethos is akin to a credit report, this would be a grade A red flag from the likes of Equifax. As we attempt to build up trust and credibility in this space, it is critical that when fraud is seen, fraud is called out. This might not be fraud, but it certainly violates the principles of transparency we need in order to build a system that can thrive. The facts are these: - Blockworks is a media and information platform. They even emphasize their commitment to ethical journalism and transparency on their “Trust and Ethics” page. (Note: companies or individuals with a “Trust and Ethics” page should be looked at suspiciously) - Blockworks wrote positive content regarding an L2 on Eth - Cobie replied to a thread noting that Blockworks seems to have undisclosed financial interests potentially influencing their coverage (Note: Not too mention a new business introduced in Q4 2024 called “Blockworks Advisory” to provide consulting services to various crypto projects). Don’t worry about potential conflicts of interest here, they say they separate that work from the newsroom. Hmhmmmmm - Blockworks denied all wrongdoing, then had to admit that co-founder Jason Yanowitz is invested in the L2 positively written about and had not disclosed this angel investment on the disclosures page. Whoopsie! -The attempted defense that followed included stating that it’s hard to monitor all the content being created (um, what?) as well as aiming to redirect the argument to state that Cobie actually was wrong (based on semantics and not what Cobie had clearly intended) - Yanowitz later came out and said they needed to add to their disclosures page because Cobie was right, but that they still did nothing wrong. (Note: Taking accountability doesn’t count when someone makes an excuse in the same breath) For this platform that thrives on skin in the game, a closely related principle of fully disclosing interests to an audience is critical. If one is stating something and not sharing where their true interests lie, this will directly lead to a growth in the mistrust of our industry. This we can not allow.
