While others chase hype, he’s been quietly laying brick after brick focused on solving the hard problem of onchain reputation with unwavering consistency. What stands out isn’t just his technical precision, but his steady hand. He listens deeply, iterates carefully, and never compromises on the long term vision. In a landscape full of noise, Serpin’s serious, detail driven approach is exactly why Ethos keeps gaining trust.

jduty · 1306· 8mo ago20“To stop using Ethos or to call out an error when I see one...”Well, I'm choosing the latter. For anyone who doesn’t know the origin... Serpin publicly agreed with Wazz who called Nigerians a 'kind of a plague' and people who 'spread like disease'. He also replied to a user that 'Prince' (a derogatory remark used for Internet fraudsters from Nigeria) is what comes to mind whenever the word Nigeria is mentioned. Whether this is true or not isn’t the issue, but the fact that the founder of a platform that promotes 'ethics' publicly agrees to a demography of users as 'plague' and doesn’t find an issue with it. This also begs the question what his intention and thought process was and has been as he hopped from one Nigerian community spaces/ community to another trying to 'onboard' users to Ethos. Was it for fun, or Serpin didn't know that Nigerians has a population of ~220m with a good number of them in the crypto space cause the country of course, is a developing country? So whatever mass-interest, mass adoption, or even spam would be expected, but definitely isn’t a valid reason to look down on a demography... as it's an insult as well to genuine supporters from there. Tweets; > Wazz's insulting tweet - https://x.com/WazzCrypto/status/1924058077994655888 > Serpin agreeing to it - https://x.com/0x5f_eth/status/1924108000538599890 https://x.com/0x5f_eth/status/1924140088801239519 _______ It has also been more than 72 hours since the whole drama, and 48 hours since I DM'd Serpin to hear his views. He agrees that his statement was misconstrued but is yet to address it publicly. To iterate, Serpin's apology tweet under Teddi speak's post is in no way an apology as; The tweet in question: https://x.com/0x5f_eth/status/1924246272422105092 1. Teddy doesn't speak for everyone nor does he represent every Nigeria. 2. You (Serpin) can't mix an apology with a shade or trying to be funny while giving one, and finally 3. He (Serpin) didnt and hasn't owned up to his mistakes. Hence, making it unacceptable and definitely not an apology. I expect Serpin the founder of Ethos to publicly address this issue and apologise properly to all offended parties. There are genuine Nigerians who use the app often, genuinely, and even more than some 'high value users', hence the reason I would've loved this to be a slash. Sadly, Ethos has a 10 day cool down, I dont know how I'd feel in 10days about it.... so I'll wait till then, in the mean time... I'm negatively reviewing Serp. This isn't me being a messiah, as I and most likely many wouldn't care, plus Serpin would definitely get defended and myself slashed — I'm doing this cause I have been publicly advocating for Ethos and would want to freely use it with clear conscience and also without having to care about Serpin/Wazz's derogatory statements. __________ On the side... 1. Farming a project that hints incentives has been a normal thing from all regions and not just Nigeria. The fact that the population exists, doesn't mean Nigerians should shrink for anyone who hates them like Wazz to exist. 2. Low effort reviews and abuse of a 'business that pays customer acquisition cost' isn't specific to Nigerian users, as many others from several regions do the same. Pretty sure some reputable and exemplary accounts abuse it to. Makes the point raised against Teddy invalid as well, i did see he improved after he was negatively reviewed by Serpin. 3. 'ethos' has always been geoblocked since I started actively using it, same thing Kaito is doing right now. I always had my vpn on whenever I wanted to use Ethos, not anymore anyway. 4. Real industrial farmers who have the resources to abuse platforms are most likely not even from Nigeria due to cost &resources, but someone called Wazz feels it's only Nigerians that ruin projects. Plus he hasn't mentioned the project he claimed Nigerians gamed. Nigerians or not, your product will be gamed if there are incentives everywhere. And finally... 5. If I do initiate the slash later and it ends up going thru, fine, and if it doesn’t, I'm also fine cause I got to make use of the app for what it was meant for. I pretty hope not everyone views things the way Serpin does. Gonna drop my pen here. Peace.

Zean · 1172· 12mo ago13“Serpin and the Mission to Build Trust in Web3”Serpin, the founder of Ethos, has earned respect as someone who does more than talk about crypto. He comes with real experience from building products in the Web2 world and now uses that background to solve one of the hardest problems in Web3: trust. Through Ethos, he pushes the idea that reputation should be earned and recorded on chain rather than based on hype or follower counts. The platform lets people vouch for others, leave reviews and create accountability that cannot be easily faked. This approach shows both vision and practicality. What stands out is his focus on transparency and responsibility. He openly admits that reputation systems can be abused, yet he also designs safeguards to keep them fair. The project is still early, but his leadership makes it clear that the goal is not quick attention but long term impact. Serpin comes across as a thoughtful builder who wants to raise standards across the space. If Ethos grows the way he envisions, it could become an essential layer for how communities, projects and investors decide who to trust.
