Serpin is the founder and CEO of Ethos, an on-chain reputation protocol addressing a critical gap in Web3 trust and credibility. “Have talked to Frank a bit over last few days, cautiously optimistic about his potential redemption arc”I'll preface with: I don't know that I can say that I've been Frank's biggest fan over the past few years, particularly because 1. I'm not big on Solana / sol culture, so I just never really paid attention to his side of the world last cycle 2. I followed consensus belief about what most people said about Frank about previously thought he was implicated with most of what was going on w/ Libra Frank reached out to me just asking to chat and we talked a couple of times. He's super sharp, easy to talk to, and I felt like that changed my perspective quite a bit. We have many people who will reach out to Ethos and say "Take me off this site!" or "People are lying about me, this site is bullshit!" but instead Frank has a pretty nuanced understanding of why people act this way and instead of just dismissing it, he seems to have intent around telling his side of story. I think he's thinking about Ethos in the right way and sees it as both an opportunity to - tell his side of the story outside of the chaos of twitter - document and ensure that story is stored onchain forever - have a more meaningful discussion with people and ensure they truly understand his perspective He's joined the discord and been helpful in sparring on ideas and going back and forth. If it's possible for someone to have a redemption arc from "public consensus" then Ethos has a vested interest in seeing that play out - so we can understand it, so we can ensure it's aptly handling that situation, and validating that social consensus can be reached in a meaningful way However, it would be silly to ignore there are some dark clouds surrounding Frank still. This is why my review is neutral, not positive. I'm very excited that he now has a platform to share this story, to show some receipts, and to potentially have a path to getting rid of those clouds - but it's still a very real outcome that social consensus does not agree. Or, that he's himself is not able to clear those allegations without definitive evidence on his end. Regardless excited to see him here and I think he represents an important pressure test for Ethos overall. I do not intend this review to sway anyone else's thoughts, and I encourage people to stay true to their beliefs. but Frank wants to work on helping people understand more, so it might be worth hearing him out ====== I will say that I do not have definitive evidence (and yet to have seen any produced) of Frank doing anything explicitly wrong, either. There are MANY people in this space that DO have definitive evidence of foul play. There is a big difference in that to me.on Frank · 1089· 1y ago · neutral173
