Towns is a Web3 social infrastructure platform built on Base that enables token-gated, on-chain communities with encrypted messaging, ownership mechanics, and monetization features—often compared to Discord but with blockchain integration. The product has attracted genuine users who appreciate its clean interface, community focus, and features like tipping and membership NFTs, though adoption remains concentrated within niche Web3 communities. Post-TGE, the project faced significant challenges including disappointing airdrop distributions, token price decline of over 90%, user retention issues after mercenary farmers departed, and slower technical performance compared to competitors—leaving it positioned as a solid concept with real product foundation but struggling to maintain momentum and broader appeal.

“Version web3 de Discord”Me recuerda a una versión web3 de la popular aplicacion de Discord. Hace poco lanzaron su token y repartieron un airdrop. Para entrar en algunos grupos, era necesario pagar por la entrada.

“Innovative on‑chain social platform—secure, user-owned, and community-first.”Towns is setting a new standard in decentralized social with its Base-native L2, encrypted messaging, and programmable Spaces. It empowers users to own their digital towns through on-chain memberships, modular reputation systems, and permissioned gating. Backed by strong infrastructure and meaningful usage—hundreds of thousands of Spaces and memberships, and significant on-chain revenue—it’s clear the protocol is resonating. The DAO-driven Towns Lodge adds a layer of participatory governance that feels substantive rather than symbolic. It’s a thoughtful reimagination of community platforms—secure, composable, and truly member-owned.

“a future of decentralized”Towns App promises a future of decentralized communication owned entirely by its users, yet the critical challenge remains whether its complex technical infrastructure can deliver a user experience seamless enough to rival the sheer convenience of entrenched, centralized platforms.

“It's a good idea, but it needs some improvement”I've been using the Towns app since the very beginning, and the start was exciting. Along the way, the team changed some rules, and not everyone liked it. It's a shame that the towns are now empty and lack the same activity. Overall, it's a strong platform with potential for growth, and I'm optimistic about its future.

“The Pulse of the Community”Towns has a way of making the space feel more connected. Whether it's supporting others, sharing updates, or just bringing good energy to the timeline, their presence is always felt. Consistent, thoughtful, and community ,driven you can tell they genuinely care about building something meaningful here. Always a solid follow when you want signal, support, and a sense of where the space is headed.

“Cool Idea”I checked out @townsxyz , and imo it’s a neat take on decentralized group chats, kinda like Discord but onchain. It’s got a clean design and some dope features like tipping and gated communities, but not sure it’s a game-changer yet. Def worth a peek if you’re into Web 3 social stuff, just my 2c.

“Good town”his is a cool project that positions itself as a blockchain for communication. It already has many users and interesting projects. I think this initiative has a good future. They share a lot of news and actively engage with the community. I like it.
