Eclipse is widely characterized as a failed Layer 2 project that betrayed its community through unfair token distribution, broken promises, and poor execution. Early supporters—including NFT holders and active testnet participants—report feeling scammed after the TGE resulted in token price collapse, inadequate airdrops, and mass layoffs. The team faced criticism for toxic leadership, dismissive treatment of community members (labeling them as farmers and sybils), and a shift from long-term vision to short-term value extraction. The chain remains largely abandoned with minimal TVL and user activity, while leadership controversies—including allegations against founder Neel Somani—further eroded trust.

“Eclipse: does the project need users?”I came back from vacation and decided to write feedback on Eclipse. I actively participated, enjoyed the ETH+SOL technology, provided liquidity and made swaps on Orca and Invariant and other dexes. I bought the Eclipse Dream Pass NFT for $45. I made more than 1000 transactions and on the checker I received 150 ES tokens, which is comparable to the amount of commissions I paid + the purchase of various NFTs. You can't imagine my disappointment. I was even more disappointed when I saw how many tokens the project distributed for activities on Twitter and Discord. These people did not bring a penny to the project, did not affect the project metrics in any way, but received many times more real users. For more than six months of the year, I supported the network with my activity and liquidity, but the project was not interested in this. The project supported those who did not make a single transaction in their network and did not provide a cent of liquidity. Good technology, fast and inexpensive transactions, but with this approach the project will lose real users like me and will not regain interest in itself. Marketing is important for everyone, but what about the network users who bring you money. No users, no commissions, no life for the project. And this problem is not only Eclipse. Now this is a trend, more and more projects motivate for social activities and communication in Discord, but demotivate real users. And it seems that a dead-end situation is developing in the market. The technologies are good, but there will be no one to use them after distributing 80% of all rewards to influencers. Are you serious? And what will the cash flow bring to the project? A couple of tweets and sell tokens. Eclipse developed good technology, cheap and fast transactions, but turned away from users when distributing tokens. This is my subjective opinion. I have no motivation to return to this network and participate in new Eclipse events. I regret wasting my time.Kirill · 1473· 1y ago · negative11
