Eclipse is widely characterized as a failed Layer 2 project that betrayed its community through unfair token distribution, broken promises, and poor execution. Early supporters—including NFT holders and active testnet participants—report feeling scammed after the TGE resulted in token price collapse, inadequate airdrops, and mass layoffs. The team faced criticism for toxic leadership, dismissive treatment of community members (labeling them as farmers and sybils), and a shift from long-term vision to short-term value extraction. The chain remains largely abandoned with minimal TVL and user activity, while leadership controversies—including allegations against founder Neel Somani—further eroded trust.

“Honest Thoughts on Eclipse – Innovation and Room for Growth”I’ve been keeping an eye on Eclipse for several months and honestly, my feelings are a mix of enthusiasm and cautious hope. What immediately stands out is their technical ambition: bringing Solana’s SVM to Ethereum is no small feat, and the potential to merge Solana’s speed with Ethereum’s liquidity is genuinely exciting. The team seems deeply knowledgeable—some of their harder engineering breakthroughs have even been acknowledged by people I highly respect in the space. At the same time, I do think there are some rough edges. The marketing at times gets a bit ahead of the actual development; a few promised features or launches seemed a little too optimistic on the timeline, and I noticed some updates that weren’t quite as impactful as the hype suggested. In the community, technical questions sometimes get lost in the noise of promotion, and I wish there was a bit more direct engagement addressing real concerns, rather than steering back to generic talking points. That said, my skepticism doesn’t drown out my optimism. I believe if the team can re-focus on transparent communication and set more realistic expectations, Eclipse has the potential to really change the Layer 2 narrative. I’d prefer to see less over-promising and more open discussion of challenges—everyone in Web3 knows how hard this stuff is! Overall, I’m rooting for Eclipse but am also watching closely to see if execution can match vision. If it does, it could be transformative. If not, I hope the lessons learned are shared with the entire community.Ⓥ italik Smog ★彡 · 1264· 1y ago · neutral6
