Low fees, fast execution, broad token selection, and a UI that stays accessible without dumbing things down. Over time it expanded to multiple chains without losing the reliability that made it popular on BSC first. For anyone active in the BNB ecosystem, it's still the default choice and for good reason. The longevity in a space where most DEXes disappear after one cycle says everything.

What sets it apart from other high-performance L2s is the full Ethereum compatibility, meaning existing infrastructure ports over without friction. The team's background in low-latency distributed systems shows in how the product actually performs. Vitalik backing it is the signal that matters most for long-term credibility.

The platform itself is well-built and that's almost the problem it made the worst behavior frictionless. Teams with actual products compete for attention against an infinite supply of throwaway tokens. Whatever momentum serious DeFi had got diluted by the noise pump.fun normalized.

That part is straightforward and has worked reliably for a lot of users. The controversy around point conversion rates, the equity-vs-token decision, and lack of transparency on valuation are separate from the card product but worth noting. If you're using KAST for payments, the experience is good. If you were in it for the airdrop side, the situation is murkier.

The combination of price tracking, market cap rankings, historical charts, tokenomics data, and exchange listings in one place is hard to replicate. The interface has improved a lot over the years without becoming bloated. For quick lookups, portfolio tracking, and getting a read on a token before digging deeper nothing comes close to matching it for speed and breadth of coverage.

That makes it genuinely useful for accessing markets that aren't available elsewhere. At the same time, there are enough reported cases of account issues to take seriously. If you're using it for quick trades on new listings and not leaving large amounts sitting there, it does the job. Just don't treat it as a primary exchange for long-term holdings.

Armstrong has consistently played a longer game building institutional infrastructure, pushing for regulatory clarity, and shipping Base as a genuine L2 rather than a cash grab. The decision to stay heads-down through the FTX fallout and come out the other side stronger says a lot about how the company is managed. Coinbase under his leadership has earned its position.

on Brian Armstrong · 2289· 4mo ago0“Seed investing without the gatekeeping”Most early-stage crypto access was a closed club before Echo either you knew founders personally or you waited for listings. Echo opened that up in a way that felt legitimate rather than chaotic. The vetting process shows, the community built around allocations is thoughtful, and the platform keeps improving. One of the few products in this space that actually does what it says.

He was early to Bitcoin, early to decentralized exchange, and now early to private AI. The through-line is always the same: tools that give individuals more control over their own lives. Hard to argue with the track record.

The analysis is sometimes sharp. But after Andrew Left was found guilty of securities fraud for trading on his own calls, taking anything they publish at face value requires extra skepticism. Use as a starting point, not a conclusion.

People who actually used the product daily got minimal allocation, while airdrop hunters and KOL partners walked away with the bags. When the incentives reveal character believe them.
