“I Cannot Look Away From These Abuses”Hard pass from me. Khamenei, Iran’s Supreme Leader, oversees a system with a terrible human rights record. Credible reports describe thousands of executions, including women and minors, with grim new highs in recent years. UN investigators have accused the authorities of crimes against humanity, including murder, torture, and sexual violence during crackdowns on protests. His rule has meant widespread repression. Security forces have killed demonstrators, dissent is choked off, and people live in fear. If leadership were a product, this one comes with a body count.
