From 109 activities · Apr 2026Scroll is a zkEVM Layer 2 that severely damaged community trust through an extractive airdrop distribution, high fees, and perceived insider favoritism. Despite raising $70M+ and building initial hype, the project alienated early users by allocating minimal tokens to the community while favoring Binance stakers and team members, leaving most participants unable to recover gas fees spent. The network has since become a ghost chain with collapsing TVL and usage, widely characterized as one of the most disappointing and fraudulent launches in recent crypto history.
What people say
Received · 131Given · 0“Red Flags All Around”Scroll really was a joke of an L2, nothing good about the network in terms of performance and cost, the airdrop was dog, the eco tried to give it a chance but we were all left disappointed. It is clear this team cannot be trusted.

LJ · 1234· 1y ago · negative9“From Lofty Promises to Disappointing Downfall”Few protocols in the Web3 space have faced as much severe criticism and community disillusionment as Scroll in recent months. What began with grand promises, active campaigns featuring badges, and on-chain activities, concluded with a disappointing airdrop that left many users at a loss. Even if they are not entirely to blame for the poor airdrop distribution and community backlash, we cannot overlook that just hours before their token launch, they were promoting a worthless NFT collection called "Onchain Dice." This move was a clear attempt to capitalize on airdrop hype and extract value at the community's expense. Many users who participated in collecting badges (many of which came with unreasonably high costs) in hopes of fair rewards didn't even recover a quarter of what they spent. It felt like a strategy to hype engagement rather than genuinely reward early supporters.

brokebrah · 1396· 1y ago · negative9“scroll is my biggest disappointment in L2s”scroll basically nosedived right after its tge, especially after that drop where most folks barely broke even, let alone made profit total tvl? down 10x since $SCR price? let’s not even talk about it... cherry on top was the recent mess with @shabarkin and @immunefi - scroll team got called out for a critical vuln (literally freezes all txs) and still managed to fumble it. like…you had one job if this wasn’t the final nail in the rep coffin, i don’t know what is feels bad for everyone who backed scroll in good faith

Dreaman · 1312· 1y ago · negative11“Scroll: Overhyped, Underdelivered”Despite the noise and funding, Scroll failed to deliver value to its early supporters. The airdrop mechanics were unclear, incentives delayed, and engagement felt more extractive than rewarding. It’s hard to see this as anything but a missed opportunity with a broken trust.

0xAris!!🟨 · 1209· 1y ago · negative11“Scroll”Scroll is another Ethereum Layer 2 trying to stand out in a crowded rollup space, but honestly, it still feels kind of generic. It’s based on zkEVM, which is cool in theory, but right now there’s not much that makes it unique compared to competitors like zkSync or Starknet. The ecosystem is small, and there aren't many exciting apps or reasons to use it daily. Developer adoption is slow, and the user experience isn’t very polished yet. The branding and messaging feel vague — it’s not clear what their long-term edge will be. Also, the project has been around for a while in testnet phase, and the mainnet launch felt underwhelming. It seems like Scroll is playing catch-up rather than leading innovation. Maybe it will find its niche eventually, but for now it feels like "just another rollup" without strong momentum. If they want to stand out, they’ll need to do something bold — and soon.

Vik_MMS · 1258· 1y ago · negative11“L2 era hype, nothing more”Scroll caught the L2 wave but had nothing underneath. Airdrop disappointed, post-TGE performance was worse. Hard to find a reason it exists. Moving on.

mark · 1229· 7mo ago · negative8“NEED TO GET BACK THE SCROLL ARMY”For some reasons , their user engagements have declined overtime in the course of few months, this could be as a result of their airdrop and tokenomics, however i believe that they can bring back their believers and build a stronger ecosystem.
