“Category Labs CEO”James was the original CTO of Monad Labs and is now CEO of Category Labs, bringing his background as an HFT engineer at Jump Trading to build a high performance parallel EVM chain from scratch. Apart from being a technical leader, he is also an active voice in the community, regularly engaging on CT, answering questions, and pushing back against baseless fud around Monad or crypto in general. Not many people know this, but earlier in his career at Jump, he witnessed the firm’s role in supporting TerraUSD during its 2021 depeg and later became a whistleblower in the TerraUSD collapse, providing key testimony that exposed what happened behind the scenes.

“James”James is a Monad Cofounder. Very funny guy and talented too. I personally love his twitter/X posts. He is a technically accomplished infrastructure leader with deep experience in low-latency systems. He brings bold vision and ambition to blockchain design, pushing for performance and new architectures. But the proof will be in execution delivering scalable, secure, and decentralized systems under real-world conditions will determine whether that vision pays off.

“James Hunsaker is an outstanding developer”I could start with his qualifications and experience, but I’d rather begin by saying that he’s incredibly approachable, always willing to share his knowledge and support the community. He truly loves Monad and does everything he can to help it grow. As a co-founder and CTO, he focuses on the core of Monad and the technologies that make it stand out - like MonadDB and MonadBFT. On top of that, he has massive experience - he worked at Jump Trading for 8 years! And he often uses memes and makes hilarious jokes too

“My step dad”James, my stepdad, has been one of the most solid and dependable people in my life. He didn’t have to step in the way he did — but he did it anyway, with patience, strength, and a good sense of humor. Grateful to have him around.
