“OG NFT artist and friend”Burst is a key figure in the early NFT movement—an artist whose longstanding engagement with blockchain technologies has helped define the space from its formative years. Beyond his pioneering role, he is also a thoughtful, committed, and generous collaborator. Curating his first institutional solo exhibition at the Francisco Carolinum Linz, as well as its parallel presentation in the metaverse, was both an honor and an intellectually rewarding experience. Burst brings a rare combination of conceptual clarity, technical fluency, and personal sincerity to his practice. What shows in this exhibition is not only his ability to engage new technologies meaningfully but also his commitment to opening up spaces—both literal and metaphorical—for audience participation and multi-dimensional experience. Interactive elements like the HAHA AI Mirror and “prompt your HAHA” station invite viewers to become co-creators, while augmented reality works reveal hidden layers and shifting perspectives that blur the lines between digital and physical realities. Even in his analog paintings, there’s a sense of dynamism and layered complexity that speaks to his broader interest in perception, transformation, and the interconnectedness of media. Burst’s work is not just about the blockchain—it’s about expanding the possibilities of what art can do and who it can engage in a digitally networked world where HAHA, as both concept and signature, functions as a code for ambiguity, resistance, and joy: a gesture that playfully questions systems of meaning while inviting us to find connection, absurdity, and truth in unexpected places.Tschuuuly · 1390· 1y ago2
