Recently, the team has sold the company to neynar and that's why I think the noise has gone down a little bit but I believe it can still come back better and stronger provided the users interest are considered again.

There is some overlap however, of political and other subject posts. Recently Farcaster added casts as 1/1 collectibles as a novel method for creators to earn. If multiple people want to collect the same cast, it goes to the highest bidder via an auction. Farcaster has crypto payments integrated into the dapp, which is another reason why it could be an alternative to X for crypto twitter!
