Farcaster is a decentralized social protocol built on Base that emphasizes user ownership of identity, portable accounts across clients, and an ecosystem of mini-apps and Frames. Praised for its clean interface, genuine community of builders, on-chain wallet integration, and high-signal conversations compared to traditional platforms, it has cultivated a loyal crypto-native audience. However, it faces persistent challenges with user adoption—monthly active users peaked around 80,000 in mid-2024 before collapsing to under 20,000 by late 2025—and struggles to compete with X despite strong technical infrastructure and backing. Concerns include questions about long-term sustainability, moderation controversies, accusations of favoritism, and recent strategic pivots that have raised doubts about the project's core vision.

“Mas maganda kesa sa Twitter.”Mas maganda gamitin farcaster kesa sa twitter kase walang limit dito sa Farcaster. Mag post ka, repost tska mag like hanggat gusto mo. Sa twitter bigla ka nalang isususpended pag marami kang repost. Kaya mas ok para sakin gamitin itong Farcaster.

“Network space”Farcaster is not about the crypto, it's about being a digital "Third Place" where you are around people who are inspired to use programmable social and programmable currency to live, build, and interact in novel and better ways. It is a new way of living and working together in the Internet Age. I think this is why many of us on Farcaster are deflated to see it categorized as "just a wallet" when we know from experience that it is much, much more. And also why we are annoyed to hear that we'll "never be a social network" when outsiders compare the usage numbers with Twitter etc. The truth is, it's something in between these two things, while also being superior to both of them in terms of quality and potentiality.

“Almost best SocialFi app”I like Farcaster. There are many useful functions implemented there - frames, mints in the application, launching dapps from the application and much more. As a social web3 application, it is currently the best. It’s a shame that the developers decided to abandon SocialFi and turn Farcaster into another useless wallet :(

“building wallet now”from building a social media like X, now creating a wallet. Don't know why they didn't stick to what they started.

“Nice Socialfi ( It Was)”It was a nice socialfi for web3 space, but unfotunately the devs decided to pivot into web3 wallet. Let's see how it goes

“Nice wallet now boyz”I’ve been following the recent updates, and it’s great to see that Farcaster is now moving toward becoming a wallet. This feels like a well-thought-out step that adds real utility and strengthens the direction of the project. What I especially like is that this shift isn’t just a feature update it shows a clear understanding of where the ecosystem is heading and what users actually need. Building out wallet functionality brings more ownership, more convenience, and a stronger foundation for everything the project wants to develop next. Overall, it really looks like the team chose the right path for long-term growth. I’m genuinely excited to see how this direction unfolds.

“good tech”love the app, however still choosing X cause of adaption... fingers crossed they gain more traction

Tommy · 1310· 10mo ago10

“I registered from the very beginning.”They are developing dynamically, you could say it's like Web3 Twitter, with its own wallet and flexible tools for projects. But so far, something is missing.
