Irys is a Layer 1 programmable datachain making data permanent, verifiable, and composable across chains and AI systems through its IrysVM. The project has raised $20 million and built a strong technical foundation with fast uploads, low costs, and developer-friendly infrastructure, earning consistent praise for its innovation in data storage and active community. However, it faces serious credibility issues: a major sybil attack saw 897 interconnected wallets claim ~20% of the airdrop supply, testnet and Galxe participants reported receiving no rewards despite months of participation, and critics allege non-transparent token distribution, unfulfilled promises, and a hard fork of Arweave's codebase without clear community communication—leading many to characterize it as a cash grab or potential rug.

“New Generation Layer 1”Layer 1 is a project that caught my attention especially after Kaito and Galxe came to Starboard. It is a project with the vision of scaling usable data instead of cheap data storage.

“Sad Sad Sad”They just forgot about community. Months of beeing active... for nothing. Not recommend

“Community is very important.”the project devalued the work of real contributors and priced it at $20 for half a year - nice wrapper, but a terrible team and useless tech

“Datachain L1”irys is bringing a whole new traction to how we percieve data. with irys, data is no longer just another stored information but fully alive, working and living. irys makes data programmable

“Useless project”A useless project with no utility just wasted my time

“sad”It’s sad that yet another project wasn’t able to show anything at the TGE

““A Promising Datachain With Strong Tech but Noticeable Process Gaps””Irys is one of the few projects in Web3 attempting something genuinely new: treating data not as static storage, but as an active, programmable component of on-chain logic. The technical vision behind the datachain, multi-ledger design, and IrysVM is impressive and shows clear long-term thinking. From a purely architectural perspective, Irys is moving in a direction many chains will eventually have to follow. However, while the technology is strong, the operational side still needs real improvement. Community communication has been inconsistent, eligibility criteria for incentives have lacked clarity, and many dedicated contributors feel overlooked. In a space where trust and transparency are core assets, process management matters as much as innovation. Irys has a talented team, strong backing, and a passionate community — the foundation is clearly there. But to fully realize its potential and maintain credibility, the project must align its communication, expectations, and contributor rewards with the same level of quality it brings to its technical work. If Irys can close this gap, it has the chance to become a defining infrastructure layer for programmable data in Web3.

“I had high hopes for this project, but as experience shows, what you believe in most often disappoints the most.”I'm not eligeble, but I've been doing all the quests for a long time on Galaxy and have been in the top rankings. Overall, everyone who made Galaxy did it for the fun of it. I can only applaud them for that.

“Hirys Datapunks”Sometimes you join a project and it’s just noise. But Irys is different. The people here are kind, chill, and always there when you need help. I have a Shugo role , but I already feel part of something bigger. Can’t wait to see how far we all go together.

“Forward-Thinking Project”Irys caught my attention because it’s tackling one of the biggest gaps in Web3, how data is handled and shared. The vision is clear, the community is growing, and it feels like they’re building with long-term impact in mind.

“Super Informative & Real Irys is doing it right”Yo, just gotta say Irys is legit in the Web3 space. Every time I scroll through their feed, there’s something new but actually helpful whether it’s a breakdown of a new protocol, heads-up on token launches, or just pointers on what to watch out for. They’re not just copy-pasting hype or throwing random predictions; it’s useful stuff, like “this might matter” or “look out for that in this chain.” What I really like: when someone asks a question, Irys drops a reply that doesn’t sound like they’re showing off. It feels like talking to someone who’s been around but still cares. Also, they call out things that look sketchy, which is rare. If you’re tired of vague threads and want someone who actually walks the talk, follow Irys. Always glad I did.
