From 253 activities · Apr 2026Jesse Pollak is the founder and primary face of Base, an Ethereum Layer 2 built by Coinbase, credited with transforming it into one of the most active and accessible L2 ecosystems through relentless community engagement, daily promotion, and support for builders and creators. His consistent shipping, low fees, and developer-first vision have earned widespread respect, though his backing of creator coins, meme tokens, and projects like Soulja Boy's coin—some of which crashed dramatically or proved to be scams—has drawn significant criticism for recklessness and poor judgment despite apparent good intentions.

I also love how he tweets, and I tend to learn a thing every once in a while, and that is real value I dont want to touch on his base project because I believe everybody in the space know how awesome the L2 Chain is

Big Trip from nitro.ng · 1387· 1y ago16“builder #001”My favorite person in the crypto world is Jesse, the founder of Base Network. I was lucky enough to meet him in person at Devcon7 in Bangkok, an experience I will never forget. He has been the biggest influence on me throughout my crypto journey and since the birth of Base, all my crypto endeavors have revolved around him. Jesse is truly amazing, full of new and innovative concepts. I truly respect him and constantly learn from his perspective and work.

I see new apps emerging and the potential for an expanding audience, and I hope this will continue to grow.

ゴン · 1243· 1y ago12“Building with empathy at ETH L2 scale”Jesse Pollak is the founder of Base, the Ethereum Layer-2 nurtured at Coinbase aimed at bringing on-chain experiences to everyday users. Recently, he was elevated to oversee Coinbase Wallet as well bridging product vision with user experience. Beyond crypto, Pollak has invested over $500,000 in Oakland’s civic infrastructure backing initiatives to improve housing, justice and governance. That’s leadership beyond code. From my point of view, what sets him apart is the balance: high-impact crypto infrastructure, thoughtful creator focus and tangible civic engagement. I think whether you're building on Ethereum, engaging as a creator or exploring crypto's role in society, Jesse Pollak's path feels like a model of thoughtful stewardship in Web3.

Andrejka | CryptoLife · 1219· 1y ago12“Highly motivated and Based”I may not always agree with Jesse's tactics, but it's clear that he is all in on helping to push Base to the masses and you have to respect that. We need more people with this type of conviction in this space.

From supporting innovative projects like bankrbot to empowering artists and builders it’s clear he genuinely wants to help the ecosystem grow. It’s refreshing to see someone in crypto who truly walks the walk and focuses on building community not just hype.
