Jesse Pollak is the founder and primary face of Base, an Ethereum Layer 2 built by Coinbase, credited with transforming it into one of the most active and accessible L2 ecosystems through relentless community engagement, daily promotion, and support for builders and creators. His consistent shipping, low fees, and developer-first vision have earned widespread respect, though his backing of creator coins, meme tokens, and projects like Soulja Boy's coin—some of which crashed dramatically or proved to be scams—has drawn significant criticism for recklessness and poor judgment despite apparent good intentions.

“Face of Base”Jesse Pollak is the the person most associated with the Base Chain. He joined Coinbase as an engineer, later led consumer engineering, and in 2023 launched Base as Coinbase’s Ethereum L2. Under his leadership Base became one of the most used chains in crypto cheap, fast, and packed with real activity from builders, payments, DeFi, and onchain apps. I hope he will keep building Base into the best L2.

“Strong Builder & Ecosystem Leader”Jesse has been one of the strongest builders and contributors in the Base ecosystem. His vision, consistency, and focus on bringing more people onchain have had a huge impact on the ecosystem. “A Lot of Respect for Jesse Pollak There are many people in crypto who talk about building for the future.”But Jesse is someone who has actually helped bring that vision closer to reality. What I respect most about him is how consistently he supports builders and communities. He doesn't just focus on the technology, he understands that a strong ecosystem is built by the people inside it. Watching Base grow and seeing the opportunities it has created for so many people has given me even more respect for the work Jesse and the team are doing. As someone who has been following this journey, I genuinely appreciate his contribution to the space. A lot of respect for Jesse Pollak. 💙
