Jesse Pollak is the founder and primary face of Base, an Ethereum Layer 2 built by Coinbase, credited with transforming it into one of the most active and accessible L2 ecosystems through relentless community engagement, daily promotion, and support for builders and creators. His consistent shipping, low fees, and developer-first vision have earned widespread respect, though his backing of creator coins, meme tokens, and projects like Soulja Boy's coin—some of which crashed dramatically or proved to be scams—has drawn significant criticism for recklessness and poor judgment despite apparent good intentions.
