Received · 8Given · 0“Just A L2 with Fake AI Meta”Tried using Mode Network and honestly it felt pretty underwhelming. Transactions themselves are fast and cheap, but the ecosystem is really thin, most of the dApps feel copy pasta or low effort, and there isn’t much unique that makes you want to stay. The UI/UX around bridging is also clunky, sometimes transactions get stuck or take way longer than expected, which kills the whole “smooth L2” experience like base or ink. It feels like they’re pushing a lot of campaigns and hype to bring users in, but once you’re actually there, there isn’t much to do beyond farming and chasing points. Compared to other L2s, it just doesn’t feel polished or mature yet. The bad one when Optimism gib builder and user superchain airdrop at Q4 2024, im tried stakin to VeMode but never got my airdrop. Dont know why thats happened when zora gib their user OP Airdrop.

Bridging was pricey initially But it's just not gotten that traction I'll also not forget how Mode Network continually ignored Abracadabra Finance for one of the Airdrop seasons making all of us who locked into Abracadabra Finance essentially earn nothing for 2 months while all the other protocols on chain got all the rewards Guess when users are ignored, users will remember that too.

It’s part of the Superchain ecosystem and could have been much better, but with a lack of strong apps and a disappointing ecosystem, it’s facing tough challenges to stay competitive.The problem is the same as with many other Layer 2 projects: a temporary hype around the airdrop and user acquisition, followed by a quick fade into silence.

You can see their contribution to a spike in their share of Optimism Superchain transactions for a period last year. Ultimately, the chain wasn't a huge success, but it had its moment. They tried to pivot more closely to AI, but their operations have never come off as chasing hype or trying to make a bag. Rather, I believe they are just trying to make a good product with some PMF. It was a fun time degening on Mode during the restaking craze last year! Wish them the best of luck.

“Appeal”I've always had an odd appeal for Mode, maybe it's the branding or the DeFi focus that I fell for Although L2s have struggled as a whole I think Mode is one of the few teams still building interesting things and I like that they are part of the Superchain
