Monad is a high-performance EVM-compatible Layer 1 with impressive technical architecture—parallel execution, 10,000 TPS target, and low latency—that has attracted a passionate community and strong funding. However, the project is deeply polarized: supporters praise the tech, speed, and community bonds formed during testnet, while a substantial portion of the community feels betrayed by the airdrop distribution, which heavily favored influencers and external crypto participants over testnet users who spent months testing and providing feedback. The core tension centers on broken trust—many early supporters view the tokenomics as extractive and the community rewards as unfair, with testnet participants receiving minimal allocation despite their contributions, while others remain bullish on the technical foundation and long-term potential.

“Few understand”I'm not gonna say something cheesy for the sake of it or because I'm part of the community for 1 year and a half, but I do think a lot of people don't understand what Monad ent it's ecosystem are building. I read some negative reviews and the vast majority cruelly lack of objectivity. Monad is a 100% evm compatible blockchain able to achieve 10k tps while not sacrificing network's decentralisation (161 validators right now on the testnet). Anyone meeting the hardware requirements (which are pretty low, by the way) can run a node in their bedroom, half-naked. Again, decentralisation is something the Monad team has always cared about. Well, on the community side, anyone involved enough can shape their own career and brand in the space and get plenty of opportunities. Obviously, i'm not saying that it's exclusively thanks to Monad, let's be real, you'll have to get the shit done, but Monad is a great playground for anyone searching for moving up a gear in our industry, whether as a CM, designer, trader, or whatever you want to do. Also, i would like to expand a bit more and tell you how Monad is standing out compared to its competitors on multiple sides: 1- DeFi: Monad is the first EVM chain supporting the CLOBs, allowing the DeFis users to trade at minimal slippage by aggregating limit orders for deep liquidity and tight bid-ask spreads. 2- Consumer apps: don't really need to expand on it, think everyone knows how important consumer apps are for the long-term retention, and Monad has a lot of them: RBS, Nomlo, Opinionlabs, Lootgo 3- The chain is stable: redesigning the EVM components from scratch is hard work, and yeah I agree it tooks a while and that's also what makes people sidelined being bearish (but who actually cares?). However, Monad testnet has been incredibly stable, except some issues with the RPC according to what the engineer team explained, we never experienced, as users or builders, any issues. It's been almost 4 years since I'm in this space, and i tried a lot of different testnet/mainnets, and it's indeed incredibly hard to have something stable on day 1. But Monad did it, hats off... 4- Ecosystem/builders incubation: Monad led MACH1 & 2 a few months ago, an incubator program for the builders, allowing them to be advised and get access to insightful resources and help from the team to build their product. 5- Community incubation: Monad understood how to build a long term community without incentives or grinding requests. They just incubated us. It really just means they took the time to make sure we're both involved offchain but also onchain. I do believe the vast majority of the previous communities from L1s, L2s or other big DeFi protocols just faded away is because they haven't been involved enough and haven't been incubated at all. it was mostly just about farming txs and waiting for (maybe) something at the end of the testnet. On that way, Monad did everything differently. If you want to be part of something, you're welcome in, it's not a gated community. Don't be that lazy guy crashing out in his room cause he used to get things in his plate even before putting himself at work. Just make the first step, and we will make sure to do the second one for you. You can just decide that today is the day you start to shape your own convictions, believe in something and play a long-term game by putting your time as collateral. We will find you, and if you're willing to, we will onboard you.Grimjow · 1355· 1y ago16
