Monad is a high-performance EVM-compatible Layer 1 with impressive technical architecture—parallel execution, 10,000 TPS target, and low latency—that has attracted a passionate community and strong funding. However, the project is deeply polarized: supporters praise the tech, speed, and community bonds formed during testnet, while a substantial portion of the community feels betrayed by the airdrop distribution, which heavily favored influencers and external crypto participants over testnet users who spent months testing and providing feedback. The core tension centers on broken trust—many early supporters view the tokenomics as extractive and the community rewards as unfair, with testnet participants receiving minimal allocation despite their contributions, while others remain bullish on the technical foundation and long-term potential.

“From ETH-maxi to MONAD-believer: why am I staying here?”Hello, anons. I'm writing this post with the same feeling I had in 2020 when I discovered UniSwap. It was overwhelming back then. Now, in 2024, that feeling has returned, and it's all about Monad. I'm not a whale, I'm a user. My bread and butter is depositing, farming, swapping, and hunting for fights. For the past couple of years, I've felt trapped in the EVM world. Mainnet gas is a lottery with ruin, L2s often run into their limitations, and solid apps on new L1s are like walking through a minefield with rotten tokenomics. What catches me in Monad (in a human way): The speed that changes the rules of the game. Everyone is talking about "parallel EVM." For me, as a user, this means one thing: I make a swap, and while the spinner is spinning in the metamask, I already have time to get tokens, go to farming, and make a deposit. All in a fraction of a second. This is not "slightly faster," it's a different class. After that, returning to regular EVM networks is like changing a Ferrari for a Zaporozhets. Backwards compatibility is my golden key. I'm tired of learning new languages, connecting new wallets, and navigating new depths. In Monad, I work with the familiar MetaMask, calling familiar contracts. All my favorite forks of DeFi giants work out of the box, but they look and feel like super versions of themselves. It's like upgrading your computer's hardware without reinstalling Windows. Decentralization is not just a word. I went through a phase of believing in "fast and decentralized" networks, which turned out to be controlled by a couple of nodes. Monad's architecture is designed from the beginning to ensure that no one has a "turn off" button. For me, who holds significant amounts in defi, this is not just a philosophy; it's a matter of survival. What's not perfect (honestly): The ecosystem is still young. Yes, there are main forks, but there's no crazy diversity like in Arbitrum or Solana yet. Sometimes you feel like a pioneer, and sometimes like a guinea pig. Of course, there's gas, but its price is just ridiculous compared to mainnet. Verdict: Monad is not just another network in my portfolio. This is the only EVM environment where I'm seriously considering moving all my core assets and deposits. It offers the promised Ethereum future of high TPS, low fees, and full compatibility, and it's already here. If you're as tired of compromises as I am, this is the place for you. It seems like the "next step."Serejke 🍊,💊 · 1207· 1y ago14
