“Disappointing Approach to Community and Airdrops”Monad has recently become the new leader of the “who can do the worst airdrop” contest. I see airdrops as a marketing strategy, but when a token I support and believe in wastes it intentionally like this, it bothers me. It is also sad to see that the promises made were not fulfilled. Those who constantly talk about community have made it a habit to ignore the potential users who actually form that community. Monad, like Arbitrum, could have encouraged long-term network use and sustainable revenue, but instead chose a short-term hit, ignoring many contributors who used the testnet, spent real money to get test tokens, minted important NFTs, and deposited partner tokens, weakening its own future.

“I will never use them”Monad quickly became one of the most hyped Layer 1 projects in crypto. The speed, EVM compatibility, and technical vision attracted massive attention, and many people saw it as one of the strongest upcoming challengers in the L1 space. What I liked about Monad: - high-performance architecture - EVM compatibility - strong community hype - one of the biggest narratives of the cycle But Monad also created one of the biggest disappointments for testnet users. Thousands spent months interacting with the ecosystem expecting rewards, only for many early users to feel left out and frustrated by distribution decisions and unclear selection criteria. That backlash hit community sentiment hard. Monad still has strong technology behind it, but crypto has shown many times that building a good product is only half of the game. Community trust matters too.
