From 2 activities · Apr 2026World pioneered human verification through orbs and is building an ecosystem for human-backed AI agents, rewarding verified users with WLD tokens monthly. The protocol faces ongoing criticism regarding tokenomics—including allegations of unfair distribution favoring the team and major VCs—and user acquisition practices that have been compared to MLM schemes, with concerns about inflated numbers from developing countries and verified accounts being sold cheaply on secondary markets.

Received · 189Given · 0“Between Hype and Privacy”Worldcoin has a big vision: building a global digital identity through proof of humanity and blockchain integration. Many see this as an important step to fight bots and deepfakes, especially in today’s AI-driven world. On the other hand, there’s criticism around biometric data collection, which some view as a privacy risk. Strong backing and a well-known team keep the project in the spotlight, but concerns about regulation and ethics remain. Overall, Worldcoin is highly ambitious, some are very bullish on its scale, while others stay skeptical due to the privacy issues.

I believe it will be a cool project in the long run and looking forward to seeing what it becomes and how it will benefit humanity as a whole. My only concern is how centralized it is, what's your thoughts?

The project uses those chrome “Orb” scanners to create a World ID, a digital passport that you get in exchange for crypto—WLD tokens. It sounds sci-fi, but that direct “scan-and-earn” vibe feels surprisingly grounded. I like that it’s tackling a real problem—carbon-copy bots and AI masquerading as humans online—by leaning into verifiable identity while still nudging toward inclusion. It’s not just about hype; it’s about building infrastructure for a future where human presence matters.

Сoin Ranker · 1248· 1y ago8“KYC for Web 3, Yes or Nay?”Worldcoin honestly feels more like a data grab than a crypto project. The whole iris scan thing is a huge red flag. people basically give up biometric data just to get some tokens, and there’s no real guarantee about how that data will be used or stored i mean not clear. The app itself is clunky and the token doesn’t have much actual utility outside of speculation. A lot of people only interact with it once to claim and then leave because there’s nothing to do in the ecosystem. On top of that, regulators in multiple countries have already started pushing back, so the whole project feels weird. The worst part they gib airdrop for people who gib wrld iris data, the airdrop itsself from liquidity pools, its mean from community money, even its wrld token but token value depend on liqudity pools.

Managing multiple assets feels effortless, and I love how intuitive it is even for new users. It’s clear the team put a lot of thought into both functionality and user experience. Highly recommend it to anyone looking for a reliable way to handle their crypto.

$Elcertified (❖,❖) · 1364· 1y ago · negative8“Adaptative situation”Reviewing WorldCoin's work to date reveals a project with a fundamentally ambitious vision and a technically sound foundation. It's clear that a significant amount of effort has been invested in its development. However, a critical analysis suggests that their research and real-world implementations currently lack the depth and nuanced understanding that comes with extensive experience. While their progress is commendable, there is a palpable need for more substantive, ground-level contributions and deeper investigative insights. The current approach, though innovative, risks being too formulaic. Without this evolution towards more profound, experience-driven development, there is a valid concern that their role could become one that is ultimately replicable by advanced AI, rather than being defined by irreplaceable human expertise and ingenuity.

Manu SB · 1212· 1y ago · negative6“Worldcoin is a global digital ID project using biometrics to verify identity.”World (formerly Worldcoin) is ambitiously positioning itself as a global digital identity and basic income infrastructure by using biometric iris scans to create "proof of personhood." Backed by Sam Altman and raising over $135 million, it has already onboarded tens of millions of users via its Orb devices and World App. The system leverages privacy-enhancing technologies—such as multi-party computation (SMPC), local storage of biometric data, deletion of raw images, and open-source code audits—to secure user data and uphold transparency. This infrastructure holds real promise for combating bot-driven fraud online and potentially powering universal basic income systems through verified human uniqueness. However, World has faced heavy criticism and regulatory challenges due to its mass biometric data collection, particularly in vulnerable communities. Investigations and suspensions in countries like Kenya, Spain, and Indonesia highlight concerns over consent processes, misuse of personal data, and GDPR compliance. Privacy advocates warn of risks from centralized black-box hardware and biological data being used without full informed consent. Additionally, questions around token distribution equity, software centralization, and regulatory readiness remain unresolved, making World’s long-term legitimacy and adoption uncertain.
