Towns is a Web3 social infrastructure platform built on Base that enables token-gated, on-chain communities with encrypted messaging, ownership mechanics, and monetization features—often compared to Discord but with blockchain integration. The product has attracted genuine users who appreciate its clean interface, community focus, and features like tipping and membership NFTs, though adoption remains concentrated within niche Web3 communities. Post-TGE, the project faced significant challenges including disappointing airdrop distributions, token price decline of over 90%, user retention issues after mercenary farmers departed, and slower technical performance compared to competitors—leaving it positioned as a solid concept with real product foundation but struggling to maintain momentum and broader appeal.

“Scam Alert”Sorry, but the text is going to be long. Once upon a time, this was one of my favorite projects. I poured an insane amount of my time into it and brought a lot of people along. Today, this project has turned into the peak of fraud. They abandoned all their values, betrayed their community, and labeled everyone who built Towns as sybils. The irony? Towns was literally meant for building Towns, and the team themselves encouraged us to do it, raking in huge commissions and showing off the metrics to investors. Now the D-Day has come. Not only has the team scammed their community, but they also keep mocking it every single day (@coinbilly_ is just a disgusting clown who never shuts up). Instead of saying something like, "Guys, fill out the form, we’ll review each case," they go on Twitter and write, "250,000 sybils have been punished out of 300,000." What really cracked me up is that Billy, trying to defend himself, drops documentation that he literally edited yesterday. But the internet remembers everything – we’ve got screenshots of the allocation of 10% at TGE, and that from this 10% nothing was supposed to go to exchanges or market makers. Yesterday, the team handed out 2%, changed the documents, and then declared that the community is dumb and can’t read docs. lol (They left 1% in case everyone chooses staking) You had a great product and massive influencer support. You could have kept earning commissions and attracting tons of new people. But you chose to grab the money here and now. The community won’t forget. I also recommend checking out the opinion of Ethos’ founder. I really appreciate his support and the fact that he doesn’t ignore the problems of the community: https://x.com/serpinxbt/status/1952912828190347510Simox🌸 · 1268· 1y ago · negative16
“Towns: Airdrop — A Failure and a Deception of the Community”Towns ($TOWNS) airdrop is a true disappointment for the community that believed in promises of transparency and decentralization. The project allocated 1,000,000,000 tokens (9.87% of the 10.128 billion total supply) for the airdrop, but the reality is shameful: as of 01:18 PM EEST on August 05, 2025, only 300,000,000 tokens have been distributed. That’s a pitiful 30% of what was promised! The remaining 700 million tokens have vanished into obscurity, with no explanations or clear distribution schedule. This behavior is a direct blow to Towns’ reputation. A team that positions itself as a guardian of on-chain transparency on Base can’t even fulfill a basic promise to the community. This isn’t just negligence—it looks like deliberate deception. Where are the on-chain data on the movement of these 700 million tokens? Why no updates since 01:17 PM EEST today? Such delays scream of potential manipulation or preparation for a dump by insiders, reminiscent of the schemes of notorious scams like BitConnect.Compared to other projects, such as Arbitrum, which distributed 11.6% of its ARB tokens with a clear plan, Towns looks like an absolute outlier. Their airdrop isn’t just a failure—it’s an insult to participants who invested time and resources. Without urgent clarification, on-chain transparency, and corrective action, this airdrop deserves the lowest rating. Airdrop rating: 1/5 — a disgrace to Web3.RØGUE FØX · 1401· 1y ago · negative20
